🎶 What is la Fête de la Musique? 🇫🇷

Every year on June 21, France celebrates the Fête de la Musique, a beloved national tradition launched in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture. The idea was simple: make music everywhere and for everyone.

On the first day of summer, professional musicians and amateurs alike take to the streets, parks, cafés, and public squares to share their passion. Free concerts pop up across the country, turning cities and villages into giant open-air stages.

At the Alliance Française de Berkeley, we love carrying on this joyful tradition and celebrating the universal language of music together. This year, we'll be celebrating a little early, on June 19, with a special Fête de la Musique Potluck.

🎵 The group Les Garçons et les Filles will perform live in our garden, revisiting beloved French classics and favorite hits to welcome summer in true French style.

Bring a dish or a bottle to share, practice your French, meet fellow francophiles, and enjoy an evening filled with music, conversation, and community under the Berkeley sky.
