We are actors, directors, writers, designers, improvisers, and theatre-goers. Teen Council brings together a diverse group of teens (grades 9–12) from all over the Bay Area. We write, direct, and perform in our own productions, see plays at local theatres, explore different artistic departments through interactive workshops, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what happens at Berkeley Rep through

interviews with professional artists. Teen Council is run by the Core Council, a creative teen leadership collective who meet monthly to design and run an exciting season of exclusive teen events. Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of theatre audiences and professionals.

🚨CALLING ALL PERFORMERS🚨

Every Road Leads Back is a Teen Council Cabaret about legacy, belonging, and the American dream. This event is a collaboration between Berkeley Rep’s In Dialogue series and Teen Leadership Council. We are looking for high school performers who are interested in performing original works or reinterpretations that connect to our themes. We encourage pieces of all forms, whether written works, songs, monologues, just to name a few!

If you are interested in any way, please consider submitting at the short form in our Linktree. Further details about what submissions should look like can be found there! The show will be held in Berkeley Rep’s Micheals Second Act space on Friday, March 6, from 6-8 pm! If you are selected for the Cabaret, we will notify you on Monday 3/1/26 and share your call time with you for the day of! Also, if you are less of a performer and do not want to submit, the event is free and we would love for you to come watch! We hope to see you all there!

Join us this Friday, January 23rd for our Teen Night, featuring an interview with How Shakespeare Saved My Life director Tony Taccone!

Tony Taccone is the former artistic director of Berkeley Rep. Taccone worked with Berkeley Rep for over 30 years, and staged more than 40 plays in Berkeley. In addition to directing shows that made it to broadway and London, Taccone received the Margo Jones award in 2012 for “demonstrating a significant impact, understanding, and affirmation of playwriting, with a commitment to the living theatre.”

Jessica Huang is the playwright of Mother of Exiles. She is a graduate of the Playwrights Program at Julliard, and has won numerous awards such as the Venturous Playwriting Award, The Paul Stephen Lim Playwriting Award, and the Rosa Parks Playwriting Award. She is the Director of Mother of Exiles and has directed at theaters across the country, including Berkeley Rep, New York Theater Workshop, and Soho Rep in addition to writing screenplays for Netflix and Paramount.
