Every wool-lover’s nightmare, moths. We have seen 3 moths in the shop and that is 3 too many. Yesterday, Monday October 5, 2026 we made the decision to close the store in order to figure out what we are going to do. We are still figuring that out.

Here is what we do know:
- We are taking this VERY seriously!
- We will not reopen until we have a clean shop and clean product.
- The online store will be closed until we have safe and clean product to ship.
- We will be completely transparent about our process including how we treat the product, how we clean the space, and what preventative measures we will take going forward.

If you have an outstanding online order or are registered in an upcoming class, please keep an eye out for an email from us in the next 48 hours.

As I write this, it is day two. I do not know all the details of how we will accomplish this. We are figuring it out with a bunch of smart and capable people. I will share more soon.
- We will make regular reports on our progress about what we are learning, on our blog, where everyone can see it.

This Fall, we’re collecting donations of handmade hats, scarves, shawls, and lap blankets for the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic. All items must be completed, gently-used or un-used, and cleaned with unscented products.

Through Thursday, November 19th, drop off your clean, finished items at the shop to support low-income, under-served, and immigrant women receiving cancer care at CMC.

Don’t have time to make something? That’s ok! Stop by the shop or visit charlottemaxwell.org to learn about more ways you can support this wonderful organization.

Donations will be delivered and distributed on Friday, November 20th. Link in bio for more information.

We are looking for local knitters who want to participate in an in-person test knit for this unnamed capelet by Maia Discoe.

The sample is made with a fi*****ng weight yarn held with a lace weight mohair yarn, but it could also be made with a DK weight yarn.

Feedback will be due by November 1st. This is a bit of a tight timeline as the pattern will launch on November 7th during our 10th Anniversary Celebration.

Sizes 1(2, 3, 4) to fit chest size: 32/36(40/44, 48/52, 56/60) inches, 81/91(101/112, 122/132, 142/152) cm
Sample shown in Size 1

Yarns: any fi*****ng weight yarn held with a lace weight fuzzy yarn OR a DK weight yarn. The sample is made with Biches et Bûches Le Petit Lambswool in the color Dark Brown held with Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair in the color Deep Petroleum Blue.

A shop discount will be offered to participants purchasing yarn for the test.

Kingston is a DK weight, dyed-in-the-wool tweed, that’s bursting with color! Made from Targhee will from the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, it’s round and bouncy, great for cables or colorwork.

Amalgam is made to be a natural colored sibling to Kingston. Boasting the same 3-ply construction and DK weight, these two yarns pair beautifully together!
