I’ll be honest… directing Annie while also playing Warbucks has been stressful. This is the fastest turnaround we’ve ever done for a full-length musical, so I knew going in it would be a challenge.
On top of that, it was originally planned as a dinner show. After three things fell through in a row, we made the call to convert it to a traditional stage production. That helped take some pressure off, and I’ve started feeling better this week… but I still wasn’t quite in that “opening a big musical” mindset yet.
Then this week happened.
Julie Roberts Photography sent over photos of our Annies, our Hannigans, and Sandy… and just like that, my whole attitude shifted.
Y’all… it’s the cutest thing. So full of life and joy. I cannot wait to be on stage with these kids.
I don’t get to perform much. I’m usually the one making sure everything else is taken care of first. I always joke I’m like grandma at a holiday dinner… making sure everyone else eats before I ever sit down.
That’s been me at the theater for years.
So getting to step on stage as Warbucks is something special. And I’ve decided something…
For the next few weeks, I’m going to enjoy it.
Because I know this show is going to come together. We’ve got a talented cast and some truly wonderful humans in our Bluegrass Players family, and I’m honored to be part of it.
I hope you love these photos as much as I do—and I hope you’ll come see the show!
