OPEN CALL | Group Exhibition | Local Artists & Poets

a room, once entered takes inspiration from Daniel Hoffman’s 1965 poem “Entering doorways.” This group calls for local creatives to apply with either visual art and/or poetry.

While undergoing life’s many a great changes, the rooms we inhabit shift all the same. Objects accumulate (or disappear), furniture is stoutly placed (or rearranged), light seeps through windows (or darkness lingers). What makes a space ours? What makes it not? We’re searching for artists and poets that articulate spaces we enter, inhabit, and depart from, reflecting our ever-evolving lived experience.

At Midnight Gallery, artwork that behaves dually as a portal to inside of Callisto is hand-created for every single exhibition.

For 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘬, our very own Creative Director, Emma Nilsson, created this piece. She is also currently pursuing her MFA in painting at Boston University.

Join us for a Sunday morning artist talk with artist Molly Martin, who is featured in 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘬. Ease into the afternoon with coffee, conversation, and a closer look at Martin’s practice. Doors open at 11:15 AM.

About the artist:

Molly Martin (b. 1998, Springfield, MO) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work treats line as drawing and sculpture. She constructs wall-based collages and suspended sculptures that loop and tangle through space, exploring tension, improvisation, and the unpredictable behavior of materials. She earned her BFA in Drawing from Missouri State University and MFA from the University of Arkansas, where she teaches in the Art Foundations Program as a post-grad Teaching Fellow. Her work has been exhibited nationally with organizations including Chautauqua Visual Arts, Surface Design Association, Southeast Fiber Alliance, and Studio Break in West Chicago. She is included in the Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts Artist 2025-2027 Registry and will attend a summer 2026 residency at the Vermont Studio Center.

Join us for an artist talk with painter Anne Gilley, who is currently featured in 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘬!

It will take place on Sunday, July 26th from 11:30AM to 12:30PM. We will have coffee and snacks, all while being surrounded by our current, vibrant group exhibition and listening to some stimulating art dialogue ✨

About the artist:
Anne Gilley was born in Colorado and grew up in Maine. Anne received a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. Her work has been featured in solo and group gallery shows in Arkansas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The sparkling light and lush beauty of the Arkansas landscape is a rich source of inspiration for Anne’s paintings, drawings, and relief sculptures.

Anne Gilley has been featured in two exhibitions with Midnight Gallery: 𝘛𝘰 𝘔(𝘦𝘯𝘥) and 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘬.

Meet Jeff Cheng; featured in our latest group exhibition in collaboration with Fifth Street Studio – 𝘍𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. Today is the last day to view it!

Jeff Cheng makes things by hand, in small numbers, from a studio in Bentonville, Arkansas. His practice moves across ceramics, watercolor, and printmaking - but it is the mug that keeps calling him back. Working in editions of twelve, Cheng returns to the same form again and again — not to - perfect it, but to understand it. Each piece is a question. Each edition, a body of evidence. His work is rooted in the belief that repetition is not routine. It is research.
