For The HeARTists is a project dedicated to spotlighting artists of color in Northwest Arkansas.

His story was almost forgotten. It’s time to change that.

An emancipated slave rose to become a frontier industrialist who helped shape Northwest Arkansas, yet his legacy was erased from history—until now.

Join us for the world premiere of Rock Van Winkle | Black Builder of Northwest Arkansas, the first live screening of this historical documentary highlighting the life and lasting contributions of Aaron Anderson “Rock” Van Winkle.

Following the film, stay for a special panel discussion moderated by For The HeARTists NWA’s own and Bentonville native, Marissa Oliver (Marissa L. Oliver✊🏾), featuring members of the film’s creative team. We’ll also celebrate the incredible research behind this story with historians Jerry Moore and Dr. Christopher Huggard.

🎟️ Admission is FREE! Donations are welcome and will help support future film festival submissions.

I appreciate every who has rocked with us so far this year as we’ve gotten back out into the community to highlight the incredibly talented artists of color here in NWA. We’ve hosted three events so far in 2026, impacting nearly 100 artists and community members. These events have also given us the opportunity to develop several episodes of content that will be releasing in the coming weeks. But we can’t do ANY of it without you guys! I have so many goals for FTH this year, but they aren’t complete without the artists to highlight.
