The SMSO has been an integral part of the cultural fabric of our community since 1951 by bringing a unique musical experience to our area. Music Director Matthew Aubin joined the SMSO in 2022 and has programmed a wonderful upcoming season. Maestro Aubin has a passion for the music as well as living and American composers and

will bring that passion to the performances. We strive to cultivate and inspire a diverse audience through professional musical experiences and offer innovative programming by harnessing live music’s transformational power to foster creativity, promote joy and unite our community. We’re excited to present the Iridescent Zeal String Quartet, with this concert proudly sponsored by the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Rotary Club, at the Howard Band Shell in St. Joseph at 7 PM as part of the Friday Night Concert Series!

In the pantheon of Classical-era composers, we know the titans: Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. But these musical demi-gods brushed elbows with other incredibly talented composers who not only influenced their work but also created artistically significant pieces of their own.

Join us as the Iridescent Zeal String Quartet shines a light on these lesser-known composers who have been lurking in the shadows of music history—and discover why their music deserves to be heard, celebrated, and remembered!
