🧄 💚 Many thanks to the Chamber staff for hosting the first captains’ meeting of 2026! In case you didn’t know, Garlic Town USA has a strong sense of small-town pride, and most aspects of the event are organized by a group of dedicated volunteer captains.

From zero waste to gates, chef demonstrations and kids’ activities, live music, merchandise, ticket sales and so many of the wonderful elements that make Garlic Town the special event we all love.

Garlic Town, USA returns Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., bringing New England’s largest farmers market festival back to downtown Bennington. From fresh garlic and artisan foods to live music, chef demos, and family activities, this is the event that defines the holiday weekend in Southern Vermont.

It’s National Volunteer Appreciation Week! 🧄💚

Garlic Town, USA runs smoothly and safely each year thanks to our incredible volunteers. From event setup, to assisting vendors throughout the day, to helping with cleanup,our volunteers make it all happen.

Join us in giving a huge THANK YOU to the 100+ volunteers who show up year after year to support this event and our community.

We make sure our volunteers are taken care of, offering exclusive tie-dye shirts, event access, volunteer parties and dinners, and the opportunity to connect, learn, and work alongside fellow community members.

🧄✨ What a milestone! ✨🧄 From a state resolution honoring three decades of Garlic Town to our biggest sustainability milestone yet with over 88% of waste diverted from landfills.

This festival is more than garlic, it’s community, creativity, and commitment. With 6,500+ attendees, 130+ vendors, live music, chef demonstrations, 100+ Volunteers, and a Compost Crew of 45 volunteers, we showed what Southern Vermont can do when we come together.

A huge thank you to our captains, volunteers, vendors, musicians, artisans, chefs, sponsors, first responders, Chamber staff, and YOU for making this celebration one to remember. 🧄💚

🧄✨ This time last Saturday… ✨🧄 Downtown Bennington was transformed into Garlic Town, USA, and what a 30th anniversary it was! From morning setup to the last notes of live music!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made it possible:
💚 Our incredible captains & over 100 tie-dye volunteers
💚 Vendors, artisans, chefs & musicians who brought flavor and energy
💚 First responders & safety teams who ensured a smooth, safe day
💚 Community leaders, Chamber staff & board members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes
💚 And of course, YOU, our guests, who came to celebrate, taste, and make memories with us

One week later, we’re still smiling (and maybe still smelling garlic 😅).

Lindy Lynch, Steve Wrathall, Joy Love, and all the producers and captains from the past three decades would be so proud of what our 2025 team has achieved. The 30th anniversary was truly celebrated this past Saturday, and the result: ALL SMILES!

We can barely write this post through the tears in our eyes as we look back at the first round of photos.

People of all ages and backgrounds came together in Bennington, Vermont, to celebrate 30 years with us.

Unlike most events, Garlic Town is rooted in community, and just look at what our amazing community created: happy times, great memories, and a whole lot of gratitude.

Another incredible, safe event is in the books, one that came together thanks to our sponsors, captains, volunteers, first responders, musicians, artisans, chefs, community leaders, and the Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce staff and board.

Together, you made sure vendors and attendees left with lasting joy and a wonderful experience.
