Happy Thanksgiving from the Benicia Chamber Players!

We’re so grateful for your support. To show our thanks, enjoy a clip from our 2023-2024 season opener—Rəqs by Franghiz Ali-Zadeh (b. 1947). Rəqs, which means "dance" in Azerbaijani, reflects the many types of dance present in Azerbaijani celebrations, from birth to death.

With Giving Tuesday around the corner, we invite you to help us continue bringing live music to the Bay Area. Your gift truly makes a difference:

We’re Halfway There! 🎉 Join Us in Reaching Our Giving Tuesday Goal!

Today marks the halfway point of our Giving Tuesday campaign, and we’re thrilled to share our progress! Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $2,125 toward our $5,000 goal. With just 7 days to go, every contribution makes a huge difference—thank you to everyone who has supported us so far!

Did you attend our recent performance, “From the Old World to the New: String Quartets in America”? Our musicians brought the house down with their stunning interpretations, and here they are post-concert.

Reflecting on this special program, our Artistic Director Alicia shared:
“Every season brings programs that I cherish, but this one felt uniquely profound. The composers of these works—Dvoƙák, Carreño, and Bolcom—were inspired by the communities they joined or cultures that they encountered in America. Dvoƙák found inspiration in the Bohemian community of Spillville, Iowa, where he embraced American folk melodies.Teresa Carreño, after emigrating from Venezuela, learned from American composer and pianist Louis Gottschalk. William Bolcom spent his life blending popular and classical music, and was especially inspired by the music of Scott Joplin. Together, these works made me reflect on the question: How do diverse voices shape the American musical identity, and how does America shape diverse voices?"

Your support fuels performances like this! Every donation, no matter the size, helps us create unforgettable moments and keep music alive in our community. Donate today:

Meet our Artistic Director Alicia Choi!

We’re excited to celebrate Alicia Choi’s second full season as Artistic Director of Benicia Chamber Players! Beyond her role as a BCP violinist, Alicia brings a deep passion for connecting audiences to the music we perform.

Along with her fresh programming balancing well-loved classics and hidden treasures, Alicia also implemented spoken introductions to offer meaningful context for each piece. Audience members have called these introductions “lively and very engaging,” making their experience “that much more personal and enjoyable.” One attendee shared, “BCP not only plays beautifully and with great expression, but shares their interpretation and background of each piece in narrative introductions that help us understand and appreciate the music even before we hear it.”

This Giving Tuesday, your support helps us continue building these connections and bringing exceptional music to our community. Have suggestions for repertoire or engagement? Share your thoughts below! And don’t forget to support our campaign here, every amount helps!

Meet Our Executive Director, Brady Anderson!

Brady took over leadership at Benicia Chamber Players in 2019 and has been instrumental 😉 in shaping the series ever since. Alongside his beautiful cello playing, he works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly—from organizing venues to ensuring our musicians stay energized with his barista skills!

One of Brady’s key initiatives has been expanding our audience reach. This season, we’re proud to bring chamber music to Benicia, Piedmont, Pleasanton, and Vallejo, connecting with communities across the East and North Bay.

This Giving Tuesday, your support helps us continue this important work—bringing live music to even more people and fostering meaningful connections through every performance.

Have a question for Brady about his role, the series, or chamber music? Drop it in the comments, and don’t forget to support our campaign here:

Help Us Build a Thriving Chamber Music Community!

At Benicia Chamber Players, our mission is to cultivate a vibrant community of chamber music lovers across the East and North Bay. A highlight of every concert is connecting with our wonderful audience members, who share our passion for live music.

One audience member shared:
“BCP is such a great opportunity to hear amazing music performed locally by passionate and excellent musicians. This is such a great gift! I hope you continue the chamber music concerts for many years to come.”

Our artists feel the same way, often calling the highlight of their experience “performing for a welcoming and appreciative audience.”

To foster more meaningful connections between our artists and audience members, we plan to host a reception after every concert in the near future. This season, we’ll have post-concert receptions following our May 24 (Piedmont) and May 25 (Benicia) performances.

Your support during this Giving Tuesday campaign will help us expand these initiatives and bring our community closer together. Every contribution keeps the music alive and strengthens the bonds that make it so meaningful.
