What better way to open people's minds than with art and books! Artists, don't miss this opportunity!

The Deschutes Public Library is creating an art collection for its new and renovated branches and is seeking artist applications!

Art in all six Deschutes Public Library branches will be diverse in both concept and material. Works will be traditional and non-traditional and be long-lasting.

The DPL Art Committee seeks works in all media and genres: painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media and new media.

Works will exist in both expected and unexpected places within the buildings and on library grounds.

Providing access to the arts is so important!

The Arts Commission's Arts Access Reimbursement program offsets expenditures for arts organizations expanding access to their performances.

The program supports:
• Public access to all individuals who want to participate in arts activities offered by Oregon arts nonprofits;
• Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, 42, USC Sec. 12101, et seq.; and
• Identification of best practices in accessibility throughout Oregon.

Breaking news: Oregon arts and culture generated $829 million in economic impact in FY2022!

Released moments ago, the Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6) study from Americans for the Arts reveals that Oregon’s arts and culture sector generated a whopping $829 million in spending by organizations and event attendees in FY2022.

The results include data from 19 Oregon regions and communities, whose participation was supported by Travel Oregon.

Oregon’s data shows that 8.9 million attendees of arts and culture events across Oregon spent an average of $39 per event for a total expenditure of $330,920,191, excluding the cost of the admission ticket. Event spending includes meals, parking, souvenirs, babysitting and hotel stays. Close to one million of the attendees were visitors.

Nationally, America’s nonprofit arts and culture sector is a $151.7 billion industry – one that supports 2.6 million jobs and generates $29.1 billion in government revenue.

With rising costs and post-pandemic audiences slow to return, Oregon's arts organizations are struggling to survive, write Carrie Hoops and Peter Koehler, Jr. for the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation. It's time for public and private entities to step up and help support them.
