Jack’s van is officially DONE and ready for the road just in time for the long weekend and the story behind it is one for the books.

After his previous van was destroyed in a freak accident (thankfully no one was inside), he found himself reluctantly starting over with a bare shell and no idea what would come next. But like every great hero’s path, the right mentor appeared. Steve, along with a whole cast of colorful Cave helpers guided him through each step.

Over two months, Jack picked up new skills, pushed through mistakes, frustrations, breakthroughs, and joy… and built something incredible.

Now the van is finished, he’s equipped for adventure, and life is richer for the journey through the Cave.

Next week at the Cave feels like a mix of sparks, shine, and shared creativity — cabochons coming to life on the lapidary wheels, shaker cabinet doors taking shape in the woodshop, couples piecing together honeycomb suncatchers on a date night, and silver rings that spin in the jewelry studio. Every class has its own rhythm, and every project ends with something you’ll be proud to hold in your hands. Monday is Memorial Day, enjoy the long weekend!

We got some photos from the Baker Web Academy students. One student said it was the best school day of the year. Another told us he was saving up to buy a band saw, before he found out he might be able to use the DIY Cave instead.

I think their instructor Tony is growing future woodworkers.

Baker Web Academy is an online school, and after seven weeks of learning about tools on a screen, they finally got to step into the woodshop and try everything with their own hands. Nothing beats the moment when knowledge turns into sawdust, confidence, real‑world skill and passion.

We love to see the next generation of makers already off to a strong start.

Our new Fused Glass 101: Slumping Optical Illusion Dish is happening June 1st from 6–8pm, and it’s the perfect intro to the colorful, mesmerizing world of fused glass.

You’ll design a vibrant plate using thin glass stringers arranged to create a dynamic illusion effect. It looks complex, but the process is guided step‑by‑step and totally beginner‑friendly.

We had a lot of fun in our Mother’s Day Classes this week. We watched mom’s making things with their kids, kids making gifts for their mom, and mom’s taking themselves on a night out.

These photos are from our Mother’s Day jewelry workshop yesterday. It was a fun week celebrating the moms in our life and honoring everything they have done for us. Happy Mother’s Day! 💐
