FB Friends!!! I recently returned from an epic adventure to the Owyhee Canyonlands in remote Southeast Oregon. Thanks to my buddy Troy for being a top notch navigator! I had never explored this much acclaimed area of our beautiful state and it lived up to the hype. I'll share several new images in the coming week and will start with this beauty from Chalk Basin, which is on the banks of the Owyhee River. Getting here takes some serious commitment and Troy and I arrived at this amazing viewpoint just as the sunset lightshow began. The alternating layers of light, soft marine sediment and dark, hard basalt with extrusive rhyolite make for surreal patterns and textures. The whole scene was breath-taking. If you enjoy this new image or have adventures of your own to share from the Owyhee Cayonlands, please share below!
