The Oregon High Desert Classics takes place in sunny Bend, Oregon on the beautiful 40 The prestigious Oregon High Desert Classics (OHDC) is the only event of its kind in Central Oregon. Approved by the US Hunter Jumper Association, this show attracts world class riders from all over the US and Canada. One of a small handful to receive Heritage Horse Show designation, it is also the only show of it
s caliber which is primarily a fundraiser for a non-profit. Oregon High Desert Classics will return July 19th – 23rd and 26th – 30th, 2023
Each year, hundreds of horses and thousands of participants gather at J Bar J Boys Ranch to compete for $150,000 in prizes on six of the last remaining grass footing rings in the country. Many more family, staff, vendors, and spectators join them, celebrating the athleticism of horses and riders, and enjoying a variety of food and shopping at the vendor booths in the show village green. The Oregon High Desert Classics serve as the primary annual fundraiser for J Bar J Youth Services, a nonprofit organization that facilitates positive change for youth. J Bar J hosts the show on its property housing The Boys Ranch, a residential program and school for adjudicated boys. Proceeds from these events support programs helping kids overcome hurdles and work toward self sufficiency. The investment in “human capital” has concrete results as we see kids turn their lives around, becoming better community members, better partners, and eventually better parents. The board, staff, and youth at J Bar J Youth Services are grateful for the opportunities afforded by the OHDC.
