Event reminder for this upcoming weekend! Our work party is this Saturday, October 17th at 1000 Springs. Plan to meet up around the shelter at 9:30AM. After filling the wood shed and under the benches at the shelter, we'll take a load of wood over to Hamaker.

After that, plan to meet up around the shelter at 11:30AM or so to head out for trail maintenance brushing work at Ginko. We'll work on the trail for a few hours then head back to the shelter to relax and for dinner.

Dinner will be somewhere around 4PM.

New to backcountry skiing or snowboarding? This one-day program is designed to help experienced resort skiers and riders make the transition into the backcountry with confidence. Topics include: Backcountry skis and splitboards, how to use skins, avy rescue equipment, efficient uphill movement, transitions, tricks, and tips to increase your backcountry success. The dates for these courses are:
January 8th @ Anthony Lakes - Intro to Backcountry Skiing/Snowboarding
January 21st @ Anthony Lakes - Intro to Backcountry Skiing/Snowboarding

We are also offering two AIARE Level 1 Courses adjacent to the Anthony Lakes ski area. Course includes: AIARE-trained instructors, 6:1 max ratio, field book, certificate of completion:

As shared in the update earlier this morning, models are showing the possibility of a few flurries and snow showers making their way into Central Oregon this weekend. With snow levels projected as low as 3000-4000 feet by Sunday morning, this could mean the first flakes near town of the season. Believe in the Powder ❄️🙂

We do not see much of a chance of accumulating snow outside of the higher elevations. This is likely to just be some flakes flying around.

Early season flurries and snow showers are not uncommon with these cold upper level lows that we get in the transition seasons. We are still several days away, so we will continue to watch the model trends for any changes. Right now, this looks to be something fun to watch rather than anything impactful with very limited moisture available.
