Grooming May 5 in Colorado. What weird winter or lack of winter this year

We are out grooming tonight.
Best to park at Dumont.
The USFS gate is shut at the dry lake parking lot. Grooming from Dumont parking lot to the towers on Buff Pass.
3ft of fresh up top.
Remember, trails and hazards are not marked.

Great news… the wait is over, and the gate at 10-mile up to Paulina Lake will be open MAY 7th! Let the summer begin early!

You know you’re anxiously awaiting a visit 😉

Cascade Lakes Highway and Paulina Lake Road are set to open for the season. The Deschutes County Road Department will open both roads on Thursday, May 7 at 8 a.m.

Please note: Cascade Lakes Highway is currently accessible from the south to Lava Lake via S Century Drive (42 Road).

In a typical year, it can take up to six weeks to clear snow from Cascade Lakes Highway and Paulina Lake Road. However, because of this year’s warm winter and limited snowfall, road crews have been able to finish the work more quickly.

As always, conditions can change quickly at higher elevations. Plan ahead and check for updates before you go.
