Meet our Guest Conductor, Benjamin Skroch!
Conductor Benjamin Skroch is pleased to lead the BJSO in our July 4th celebration concert this year. Benjamin is a member of the Madison Symphony Orchestra. He has performed on trombone with the Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Sarasota Opera and others. He frequently plays trombone with Overture Hall’s broadway shows; most recently in Back to the Future, Some Like it Hot, Wicked and MJ. He began his music career teaching high school orchestra in Osseo, Minnesota. He was director of the Woodbury Youth Orchestra, the Waconia Community Band, and has conducted the Compass Rose Brass Ensemble, and Minneapolis Civic Orchestra. He has conducted 8 musical theater productions with student and community groups in Minnesota, including West Side Story, Crazy for You and Guys and Dolls. Benjamin holds degrees in Music Education, Music Performance and Music Theory. Orchestral conducting has been a passion of his since high school, and he is looking forward to conducting live music for the Beloit and Janesville community this July. Benjamin loves the outdoors, is a canoe enthusiast and flies radio controlled airplanes. He is a craftsman builder of composite canoes, and custom river tables.
