Lepers in Paradise: A Genderbent R***e is a variety show, a collection of acts to be devised by the ensemble members. The themes explored in the show are gender, alienation, creation, as well as religious/cultural empowerment or oppression as experienced by gendered, raced, sexed, and classed body. The show situates personal stories, abstract movement, tragical to comical interpretations of biblical text and gender theory, in challenge to or dialogue with Genesis: “God making humans, male and female, in His image.”

AUDITION!

Lepers in Paradise: A Genderbent R***e is a variety show comprising real experiences of gender, gender empowerment, gender dysphorias and alienations, and the intersections of spiritual fulfillment and religious oppression in relationship to gender. It's a cabaret, where the sacred to utterly blasphemous will be placed beside eachother and it is up the audience to decide what it all means! Participants will devise, write, and otherwise prepare one or two acts to be performed in the show.

LEPERS IN PARADISE is a fairly LOW COMMITMENT for theatre. There will only be between 4 & 5 rehearsals and three performances, on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of DECEMBER. You don't need theatre experience to try out! You just need to bring an open mind, and a willingness to be silly and willingness to be serious. (these are the same dates as DECEMBER DANCE but the show will take place later that evening so there won't be a conflict.)

AUDITIONS ARE AT THE TV LOUNGE IN PEARSONS, SATURDAY OCTOBER 3RD (3pm-5:30pm) and SUNDAY OOCTOBER 4TH (5pm-7pm). If you have any questions, email me at [email protected]
