Breaking excitement courtesy Ray's the Roof Productions: At tomorrow's Stage 33 Live matinee, we'll be giving away a pair of tickets to An Evening with Suzy Bogguss happening on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 at the Bellows Falls Opera House.

Suzy Bogguss. She was the first featured female performer at Silver Dollar City, later known as Dollywood. (RIP dear Dolly.) Not much later, six Top 10 hits, three gold albums, and a platinum. Over four million albums sold. She won Top New Female Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music, and Album of the Year awards from that outfit. The Horizon Award from the Country Music Association. A Grammy, then another one, then another one. She's also landed on the jazz charts, and wears her folk roots with pride... she was a frequent guest performer on A Prairie Home Companion. She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry this past January. There's just piles of achievements and accolades.

We're not quite sure how we'll give this pair of tickets away, we'll figure it out. But you gotta be at tomorrow's pay-what-you-want show to win.

Justin Levinson & Josh Glass have dropped out of tomorrow's show, so we're pivoting to an abbreviated open mic followed by a full set from Marty. We’ll guarantee open mic time for the first five people who respond (or you can takes yer chances and just show up — though you might not get to play)… email [email protected] to grab a slot. Original music only, no covers! This is a 3:00 matinee on Sunday August 30. Audience members pay what you want at the door. Capacity is 40.

Big tasty jazz Saturday night with Dr Julian's Yes Yes! The Julian Gerstin Sextet had a capacity audience at Stage 33 Live back in 2024, and now Gerstin — the highly regarded ethnomusicologist / composer / master of drum traditions — has a new eclectic jazz project called Dr Julian’s Yes Yes... loaded with powerhouse jazz ringers, it's a fun, affirming name for fun, affirming music. They take the songs in more unplanned directions than the Sextet, and everything is still loaded with adventuresome, exciting rhythms and audience-friendly melodies. Trumpet, clarinet & tenor sax, bass clarinet, electric piano, acoustic bass, drum kit, congas & frame drum & other percussion surprises... it's gonna be a delight.
