The wind seeks to erase the performer/observer barrier through a participatory offering. Inviting all to collaborate in a trans spacial sonic exploration of sound, visuals, movement and costume. We bring an offering of improvisation music and dance deep rooted in purpose and intention while seeking to morph, adapt, and collaborate with the rich community of ideas that sweat from the pours of sh’bang. Our dream is to facilitate a three hour morning jam beneath the grandmothers atop the hill. An offering to the ancestors. Something we have all explored deeply in spontaneity at sh’bang yet seek to hold space for a deeper and more inclusive dive into this phenomenon.

A giant puppet play created by String and Shadow , “Night at the Grand Opera” is a frenzied romp through a candlelit night at the Opera. Rococo extravagance is fashioned with elaborate cardboard sets that collapse and unfold to reveal the many great dramas of the opera house (not all of which happen on stage.) Love triangles, converging revolutionary plots, art-loving flies and stilt-walking vermin are brought to life with cardboard and paper-mache. All ages.

String and Shadow Puppet Theater is a theater company based in Olympia, Washington. With cardboard, fabric, and paper mache, their visually stunning performances incorporate music, dance, and circus arts to tell original stories that engage the imaginations of their audiences. In the words of an audience member, “String and Shadow’s worlds of fantasy and fable pluck at the strings of universal innocence, wonder, and joy.” Emerging during the pandemic with Drive-In performances, String and Shadow aims to strengthen communities and provide accessible art, often through donation-based or free events. Since 2023, they have toured regionally and nationally throughout the United States.

In the PNW you can hear tape hiss from the trees. Everyone has a basement and keeps jars of pickled vegetables. Sawtooth, soaked in Olympia rain and now Portland living, are the Saturday Night Live band for Pacific Northwest punk houses. Maybe if Music From Big Pink was actually music from across the damp street it would sound something like this. The warmth of early 70’s records are present, from Harvest to Fragile, as well as the traces of pioneer west coast power hippies Little Wings and Lee Baggett. American music moves around, never staying still. Sawtooth will let you ride along, but the road goes every which way but loose. Everything but predicable.

Hailed as a “charismatic and slightly deranged,” [outinperth] “tour de force.” [fringereview], Strangely’s performances are always a “meeting with the unusual.” [KingsRiverLife]

Mercury Bergren Mercury Bergren is a multidisciplinary artist, acrobat, and androgyne who found themself in circus after a lifetime (well, 20 years) of being too eccentric and and wiggly to be of much use to society though more conventional means. They crashed onto the aerial scene in a rock climbing gym on Lingít Aaní (Juneau, AK) after attending acting conservatory at AADA in New York City (training they now apply to clowning). They have since made Seattle their home base where they hone their skills in aerial, group acrobatics, and coach/manage social circus programs at SANCA. Seattle is also where they founded their own contemporary circus company to tell stories of resistance, mutual aid, and anti-fascism, called Circus Radix. Their whole goal is to see more diverse stories on our stages and to live in a world where people have more options for moving through it. To that end, they’ve had the privilege of travelling internationally to coach adaptive circus and consult with social circus programs in Japan and around the US. When they’re not doing all that they can be f
