Why do something if you suck at it? Well sucking at something is the first step to being ok at a thing. I've toyed around with this hobby for over a year now and i see little improvement outside of the few tricks i can do...well at least could do.
With a new and proper staff i have to retrain my body to work with it. meaning no more hands. if this means I have to drill the same god damn move set over and over just to get it right i will.
let me tell you that s**t hurts too. the right side of my body has been sore for three days straight just trying to get down the first part of a new trick. i still have three more bits to learn.
so if it takes another year. drilling basic fundamentals all over over again then so be it. that ah ha moment when it all comes together and the staff does exactly what its supposed to do. that's why i do it. because the more i hone my skills the more i can accomplish in my tricks....with fire.....and not die...
What I'm great full is this. I don't have to do this s**t alone. well i can but its more fun to watch my peeps struggle just as hard to nail that move that's been alluding them or to be able to turn a mistake into something cool with no one being the wiser. People who are way better at this then I still dropping their equipment. so even the good ones make mistakes.
So for every smack to the face with a wick. every singe of the flame. every clatter of a hoop across the dance floor. every drop of our equipment. we pick up and try again. we do it for fun. we do it for the crowd and most importantly we do it for ourselves.
