Classes by Sonja of Banat Sahar...
Persian/Tajik from 5:15-6:15, then North African Bellydance from 6:15-7:15. $10 each or $15 for both.
Persian/Tajik class: focuses on women's dance styles of Iran and Tajikistan. Willowy movements of the wrists, arms, shoulders, and spine pair with constant motion of the feet so that the dancer seems to bob and float in space. This class is for more advanced dancers and will give you a flexible spine and a strong core.
North African Bellydance class: based on an older style of bellydance, which has its origins in the dance styles of North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Although the focus will be on basic bellydance technique, regional styles of North Africa will also be introduced, such as Moroccan Shikaat, Tunisian Raqs Shaabi, Algerian Ouled Nail, Egyptian Saiidi, Nubian, and others. Bring zills (finger cymbals) if you have them. No previous experience necessary.
