Sad but not unexpected news. I got to do some projections at last year's BAMF in conjunction with the inimitable Elixir Lights, and it was a wonderful experience. The festival was such a fanstastic celebration of all the wondrous aesthetic delights created by the region's myriad talented, creative artists in all manner of media (and a few confused newbies like me, haha).

Times are tenuous and terrifying right now for artists and the many organizations, individuals, and locations that support their work. If you're relatively employed, I urge you to check out that Bellingham arts community relief fundraiser linked below.

Friends & Family,

BAMF! 2020 on May 29-31st has been cancelled.

**Ticket holders for BAMF! 2020 will be automatically queued to receive refunds from Bold Type Tickets. All tickets will be refunded. Refunds will be credited to the card that you used. That money should be reflected in your account balance within the next 10-14 business days.**

There it is. There’s no easier way than to rip the band-aid off. Not just for you, dear reader, but for our crew. We tried to find the right way to tell you, until we realized we were grieving.

So we gave ourselves some time to process that we won’t be bringing this experience to life this year. Looking ahead feels straight-up weird. Weird! With so much uncertainty and likely prolonged risk to our community's physical and financial health, postponing the BAMF! we have been planning is not an option for us. We’re heartbroken to not see you all back at the Lookout Arts Quarry, reveling in the arrival of sunshine and our favorite season.

We are not alone. The arts community is a space that knows no ends or bounds. Around the world there are small festivals just like us who are struggling through this, venues under threat of closure, and artists of all kinds facing a unique situation.

Unexpected challenges are flanked by unexpected creativity.

This breathes hope into uncharted territory.

If BAMF! is able to produce something else this year, we would like to do so. We cannot guarantee anything now and don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up in the face of mystery, just keep your eyes & ears peeled, and continue to follow our social media channels. 😊 We will continue to be a source for local music, art, and community to connect.

If you are able to, please consider donating to any number of causes set up for artists and producers. Check this one out for Make.Shift and our home scene at-large: https://www.gofundme.com/f/bellingham-arts-community-relief

Stay safe everyone, and thank you for your continued support these last few years. ❤️

With love,
The BAMF! Team

It's been a while since I've posted anything, and a whole lot sure has happened, especially here in WA. Hope you all are safe and healthy and as employed as possible. We'll get through this.

Here's a short video with some color wheels, mushroomy doodles on glass, and a black plate.

Now's a good time to go buy some merch from your favorite musicians and indie record labels! I'm looking forward to doing projections for FRyFest if it can happen, but of course we're unlikely to be out of this thing by April here in western WA. Hope all of you are weathering these hard times as safely, sanely, and healthily as possible. ❤️

I made a first attempt at a piece of printed light-show-related art for this month's show at Make.Shift. Hard to see what's going on in that second photo of course but the thing above my head is two slightly offset prints backlit with LEDs of an image made via three overhead projectors with sketches on glass overlaid with dyes. The illustrations were kinda rough but the concept seems promising for future projects.

Anyhow, the Make.Shift show is called "Always Look on the Bright Side of Mental Illness", and the image is based on my own experiences with that subject. The show has a lot of really good, thought-provoking work, and if you get a chance to stop in to Make.Shift to see it it's worth your while, though it's only up for a couple more days.

First image is the oversaturated for printing and awkwardly square-cropped one I used for the piece, and the others are an assortment of other projection setups from when I was working on this project.

Wow, these are some great photos from an event I was privileged to do projections for yesterday (a million thanks to the Mt. Pleasant Ballroom crew)! Foxy Apollo sounded absolutely phenomenal, what a great set. Can't wait to see them play again some day when I'm not squishing plates - it was so hard to not start dancing!

Thank you for opportunity to project some colors at this event, what a warm and cozy way to spend that bitterly cold evening.
