Contemporary Folk Art by R.R. Clark (a.k.a. Fishboy). Open by appointment. "Some of my ideas are immediate, and some never see the light of day.

Others that have been incubating for years I still haven't used but may someday. I am an advocate of sketch books (I carry one with me) and a good digital camera (I most always have one around). Most works begin as abstracts, free-flowing latex, patches of color, very random, and I see what develops from there. It's all a matter of juxtaposition and light. Then I add and subtract until I find my v

oice. Because I work on wood, the surface can handle much abuse, and I dish it out; I can sand areas, scratch, paint over, etc., until I get a desirable layout. Overall, it's the process of making art that is most important."

Time for another Sunnyland Art Walk! We're one of a number of art venues open next Friday, May 8, 5:00-8:00 pm in the neighborhood. Since the local brewpubs are participating too, it's being billed as an Art Hop + Hops! Marijo at Martini Mercantile just down the street from us has set up a bingo card game for the event--you can pick up a card at any venue and have it stamped for a chance to win prizes from participating artists as you walk the neighborhood.
