It was another classic night of trivia at Table Twelve! And when I say classic, I mean fierce competition, wonderfully awful answers, a leaderboard with severe commitment issues, and enough twists and turns to make a soap opera writer jealous. Honestly, it doesn't get much better than this.
Here's how the chaos unfolded...
🥉 Beauty and the Baldy – Our returning team played the long game tonight. While the rest of the field bounced around the leaderboard like caffeinated squirrels, they quietly stacked solid rounds and stayed right where they needed to be. When the final question arrived, they wisely slapped down a zero wager and protected their position to secure 3rd place. Was it flashy? No. Was it effective? Absolutely. Keep playing like that and a first-place finish is definitely in your future. We're watching.
🥈 Dexter's Lab – Outstanding team name. Bonus points for making this host nostalgic. These guys came out swinging and spent the entire night trading punches for the top spot. They avoided most of the Double Down disasters that claimed other victims and steadily piled up points. Heading into the final, they were very much in the hunt. Unfortunately, a small wager paired with a wrong answer left the door open for someone else to steal the glory. Congratulations on 2nd place and the prestigious title of Table Twelve's First Place Losers™.
🥇 Wisequackers – These guys were a problem all night long. They stayed near the top from the opening question and never let the pressure get to them. No Double Down meltdowns. No catastrophic rounds. No panic. Just smart, consistent play from start to finish. Then came the final question. While everyone else was sweating through their answer sheets, Wisequackers pushed almost all their chips into the middle of the table... and delivered the ONLY correct answer of the night. That's right. The. Only. One. They steamrolled the field and walked away with the W. They made it look easy, which is frankly a little rude.
👏 Honorable mention goes to Just the Two of Us! The newcomers brought fantastic energy, great attitudes, and forced me to hum that Bill Withers song every single time I said their team name. They proved there's more to trivia than chasing the leaderboard. The results may not have gone their way this week, but the vibes were immaculate. Redemption arc incoming.
💀 The Zero Award goes to Drinking Team with a Trivia Problem (elite team name), Just the Two of Us, and Los Kikos (last weeks champs). These brave souls fully embraced the "go big or go home" strategy. Unfortunately, they mostly went home. Big wagers. Wrong answers. Instant regret. Aside from Just the Two of Us sticking around, the rest executed flawless Irish Goodbyes before we could wrangle them into a team photo. Honestly, that's veteran-level avoidance. Respect.
Wednesday. Trivia. Table Twelve.
See you next week in West Boylston, where somebody will rise, somebody will fall, and somebody will confidently wager everything on an answer they absolutely made up.
