“Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”
For much of this process, the answer has often been:
“We are.”
Edward Albee’s masterpiece is sharp, funny, brutal, deeply human, and painfully honest. It dives into the illusions we build for ourselves, the games we play to survive, and the dangerous line between love and destruction.
For our director, this production is deeply personal. Albee’s writing has long been part of his artistic DNA — beginning years ago with a first reading of The Zoo Story that left a permanent mark, continuing through years of performance and discovery at the legendary Ilkhom Theatre.
Now, that journey continues with one of the most iconic works of American theatre.
But Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is not simply drama.
And it is not simply comedy.
Like Chekhov, Albee forces us to laugh at pain and ache beneath the laughter. The result is explosive, vulnerable, cruel, hilarious, and startlingly truthful.
This process has challenged every actor involved. It has demanded fearlessness, honesty, and trust. At some point, all of us have been afraid of Virginia Woolf.
And now, we invite you to find out if you are too.
