At this past Wintergrass, Saturday night's closing performance on our Grand Ballroom stage was an amazing set with Väsen and Friends. Those friends included Darol Anger and Bruce Molsky; Mike Block and Christylez Bacon; Hanneke Cassel with Yann Falquet and Tristan Clarridge; Jordan Tice and Brittany Haas; The Fretless; and Outlaw Strings from Sisters, Oregon.

The fire alarm went off at the end of the second tune... and everyone had to evacuate. The evacuation was edited out (whew!).

In what has become an annual tradition, The Fretboard Journal hosts a workshop at Wintergrass where we gather as many rare and vintage instruments as we can, put them onstage, and have a few great players showcase their magic. No two workshops have ever been the same, and without fail, we always learn something and hear some great music.

This year's session featured John Reischman and Caleb Klauder on mandolins and Patrick Sauber and Nina Ge**er on guitars.

Huge thanks to Mark Demaray for emceeing and to the Fretboard Journal readers and the Wintergrass community who let us borrow their instruments. Special thanks to Ear Trumpet for the microphones and D'Addario for all the strings.
