www.ohanlonart.net I liked it and my passion for art has not left me since.

I've been making and exploring art since I was a young child getting my first taste of drawing from Jon Gnagy's Learn to Draw. I started out my secondary education studying Engineering, then Architecture before moving to Fine Art after having to take some art classes and rediscovering my love for visual arts. I studied Art and received my BFA from Youngstown State University in Graphic Design and

Painting. I figured if I was going to pay for this education I might as well study something I truly love doing! I generally move toward the abstract or loose impressionistic style of painting. A loose and free style that allows me to respond to changes I see happening on the canvas as I progress through a painting. Sometimes I have a definite outcome in mind, but more often than not, I begin with just putting something on the canvas and go from there. Sometimes it’s geometric, sometimes I want to convey a thought or feeling, sometimes I respond to the shapes, lines, flow, or colors in front of me and go from there. I like creating on the fly and the surprises that come with it. I create most of my work on canvas with either oil or acrylic paint, but also like to experiment with other media. People sometimes feel they need to be able to articulate why they want a particular work before they are allowed to buy it. That is not how it works.

The attraction does not need a defense. You do not have to be able to explain Redline 2 to someone who asks; you just have to know it belongs in your space.

The explanation, if you want one, tends to arrive later on its own.

Every work that reaches a collector is the result of many decisions, including the decision not to show what came before it.

The finished work is not the whole story. It is the end of a longer, quieter process that most collectors never see.

When you live with The Suffering, you are living with the result of the artistic process and all that comes with it.

Spring Fever

"Spring Fever" is an acrylic painting, 30 x 24 inches, on linen mounted on gesso board, filled with vibrant, energetic colors that create an abstract landscape. The playful, almost cartoonish style hints at blooming flowers and elemental forces like fire and water, symbolizing a dynamic yet serene environment. Beneath its lively surface, the painting holds a deeper meaning, representing Christ's tomb during the quiet, transformative moment between crucifixion and resurrection. It captures the essence of hope, renewal, and the promise of new beginnings.

Interior designers often talk about sightlines. They're the natural path your eye travels when you enter or move through a room.

Most people never think about this consciously, but they feel it. Art placed directly in a sightline changes a room immediately.

Placement is as intentional as the work itself.

Where would you put Mountain Impression?

I think "Untethered" could fit into a few different places. Where will you display it?

"Untethered" is a striking 48 x 36-inch abstract oil painting on a wood panel, evoking a sense of freedom and release. The composition features three prominent circles: a warm yellow, a cool yellow, and a green, each floating with an airy lightness against a serene, seascape-like background. Dominating the foreground, a dynamic, red ribbon-like form swirls and curves, suggesting a tether or connection, yet paradoxically embodying a sense of motion and liberation. The interplay of vibrant shapes and colors creates a visual tension between the grounded and the free, inviting the viewer to ponder the delicate balance between control and release.

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.

"Perfection" and my other work are connected to the people who love them, not just the places they're displayed.
