This is one of the sneakiest ways wedding budgets get blown.
Because usually it’s not ONE giant purchase.
It’s the innocent little:
“It’s only a few dollars more…”
1. The $4-per-person upgrade.
It’s just $4, right?
WRONG.
Until you have 175 guests.
Now it’s $700.
Add another $3 glassware upgrade, $2 napkin upgrade and $5 charger…
and your “tiny” upgrades just became thousands.
2. Adding a few more tables.
Maybe the guest list grew.
Maybe you decided you wanted fewer people at each table.
But another table doesn’t just mean another table.
It can mean:
Another linen.
Another centerpiece.
More candles.
More rentals.
More place settings.
One decision creates five more expenses.
3. The decor addition that needs OTHER decor to make sense.
You add a beautiful lounge area.
Great.
But now it needs furniture, pillows, side tables, florals, candles, signage, delivery and setup.
That $500 idea suddenly called up all of its friends.
And THIS is why wedding budgets can get away from couples so quickly.
You’re rarely deciding whether to spend another $500.
You’re deciding whether to spend $500 plus everything that decision requires afterward.
So before adding something to your wedding, ask:
“What else will we need to pay for if we say yes to this?”
Because sometimes the smartest way to protect your wedding budget isn’t finding a cheaper option.
It’s catching the domino effect before the first one falls.
And that’s where having a solid planner at your side comes in 😘
