This is huge. South Korea's National Assembly just unanimously voted to ban dog meat production, slaughter, distribution, and sale — a historic moment for animal welfare and the millions of dogs who'll be protected because of it.

The law includes a three-year transition period, with full implementation coming in 2027. It's a compassionate approach that gives businesses time to shift to alternative livelihoods while making a clear statement about how society views dogs: not as food, but as the beloved companions they are.

What makes this even more meaningful is that it reflects a real shift in how people see animals. Surveys show dog meat consumption has been declining for years, while pet ownership and animal welfare awareness have been growing steadily. This legislation didn't come out of nowhere — it came from a society that's evolving, listening, and choosing kindness.

For the dogs in South Korea and around the world who deserve to live free from fear and suffering, this is a victory worth celebrating.

Seven-year-old Peanut has been waiting at Humane Society Broward County for someone to see her, to choose her, to bring her home. And every single day, she shows up at that kennel glass with a toy in her mouth, tail wagging, ready to love whoever walks by.

It breaks our hearts that age has become a barrier for this sweet girl. But Peanut isn't giving up. She's decided to do the choosing herself — greeting every passerby with hope and a playful spirit, as if to say, "Pick me. I have so much love to give."

Her caretakers describe her as silly, sweet, and full of joy despite a past that's been anything but easy. She adores kids and adults alike. She loves making friends. She even sleeps with a toy in her mouth, like she's holding onto hope itself.

Peanut deserves a family who sees what we see — not an older dog, but a companion ready to fill a home with endless laughter and comfort. If you've been thinking about opening your heart to adoption, please consider this beautiful girl. Share her story. Help us find Peanut her forever home.
