Today’s prompt is COURTSHIP.
My story is about lost love letters. This is a snippet from my own story and the watercolor I painted for it…
there are lovers yet
and letters of love,
dreams drifting away behind the night
under the two-faced moon,
one face of shadow
where hope sleeps through the night,
one face of the sun’s promise
reflected in her shining light…
I’m so grateful to be able to post this here and for the wonderful artists who have put together . It’s so much to drift into dreams of another’s tale!

“In the Secret Wood,” a tiny tale…From the windswept crags high in the spell-wrapped mountains, out of the narrow vales and sparkling mists it came, glimmering, so silver-bright, and strange. With its golden voice it called up the sun from its wintry spell. It pierced the ancient green veil of the secret wood with its joy, and the summer forests came alive with sun-spattered leaf and song and the light of the rare creature that held the heart of the wood as its own.
Joining the Junicorn celebration for ! My prompt is “secret”. I believe unicorns ignite the light inside of us—the hidden strength and beauty in our souls so we can rise above all adversity to find joy.
Supporting my Black friends and POC all over the world. I wish for safety, health and the beginning of true brotherhood for all peoples.

One of my favorite color combinations is white and pale green. White flowers have such a subtle, pure beauty, even if they’re made up! 😊 Slightly based on the huge white magnolias that bloom profusely here, and set opposite one of those bendy, twisty branches I love to paint, on delicious handmade paper. A couple of weeks ago I was the happy winner of a contest by Emily of to help lift spirits in this trying time. I received a package of 5 lavender sachets sewn from wonderful old linen that smelled absolutely devine! It inspired me to paint some sprigs of lavender on handmade paper to capture the way that amazing fragrance floats through the air. I call it “Lavender Airs.” Scroll through to see the sachets, which I do believe you can purchase from Emily. She makes marvelous pillows as well. One day I was doodling and my pencil just took off—soon this lovely face appeared and flowers and a cloud of hair which turned lavender as I grabbed my watercolor pencils and went to work on the colors. “My Heart is a Wildflower” is the result. I wonder what thoughts are unfolding in her secret heart?

Finding balance in a chaotic life isn’t easy and this year it’s been so crazy. When I found these two opposite branches, it made me think of that and that inspired me to paint that concept—there’s such a delicate balance between the old fading leaves and the new vibrant life of budding flowers. Sometimes I think that flowers have an inner light and when we breathe in the fragrance, we breathe in that beautiful light that brings joy and peace into our hearts. I tried to capture this in this watercolor. She’s called “Silent Renewal.”
