For our young artist friends:
I know today is weird, school is closed for the RSU71 kids, lots of things are cancelled, some families just want to stay close together - all because of the shootings in Lewiston last night.

I wish I could have you all come to Waterfall, but we are also closed today.
I wanted to tell you that lots of artists will spend today creating. And lots of NON artists will do the same. It's a way people do therapy by themselves - just by sitting down and doing something with your hands, it can help get hard feelings out of your body so you feel less stress and anxiety, OR if maybe you aren't really feeling much, it can help you notice feelings you might be pushing down, and help you feel better.

If you'd like to try it, just find some personal space and sit with some paper or whatever it is you want to create with. Don't think about what to do. Just get moving. You can toss whatever happens on the page when you're done if you want to. It's not for anyone else - just a process for you.

You might just use colors and shapes to get out a feeling - abstract art.
You may find yourself writing words or drawing pictures about what's on your mind.
You might find yourself sort of making something to share a message with "people" out there somewhere. Support, love, empathy, frustration, or a wish.

IF you do end up with something you'd like to share, just ask your parent to take a pic and share it here.
