Arts in the Park - Belfast, Maine

Arts in the Park - Belfast, Maine Summer arts festival on Belfast's beautiful waterfront with over 100 Maine artists, live music and food! Brought to you by the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce!

Arts in the Park is one of the most respected fine arts and crafts festivals in Midcoast Maine. The variety of artwork and crafts is outstanding, and continuous live music and the smells of freshly grilled food add to the festival atmosphere. The venue can’t be improved: set on the water’s edge, right downtown, with sailboats and dinghies moored a few feet away.

We’re excited to share that Felicia Grace Designs has been selected as the 2026 Arts in the Park Artist of the Year!

This year is especially meaningful as Felicia celebrates her 10th year participating in Arts in the Parkβ€”a true testament to her talent, dedication, and connection to this event and community.

Felicia’s work draws inspiration from the natural worldβ€”exploring the interconnected patterns of trees, ocean life, and the human body. Her pieces are both grounding and thought-provoking, reflecting the beauty and complexity of the world around us.

We’re honored to recognize Felicia’s work and her long-standing presence at Arts in the Park, and we can’t wait for you to experience it this June!

One of the unforgettable artistic highlights of many of the past Arts in the Park events was the presence of work by Ronald J. Cowan (1943–2020) β€” the beloved Belfast wood sculptor whose deeply expressive faces brought old logs, beams, and stumps to life.

Ron’s work wasn’t just art β€” it was community storytelling carved in wood. Using chainsaws, chisels, and grinders, he revealed faces with personality, emotion, and presence, transforming humble materials into meaningful forms that invited viewers to stop, reflect, and connect.

Many in our community know him best for β€œThe Long Breath” (also called β€œMuses of the Harbor”), his iconic tide-dependent installation gracing the Belfast waterfront β€” a public art piece that, like the harbor itself, changed with the rhythms of the tide. One of his sculptures (β€œAntonio”) even appeared in the film The Man Without a Face. His work continues to live on in private gardens and public spaces throughout Midcoast Maine.

We’re honored to have featured Ron’s work at Arts in the Park β€” his legacy lives on in every piece that invites a second look and every artist inspired to shape raw material into something meaningful.
