I'm quite old school in my studio! In order to mount the sphere in the upcoming sculpture, I have to drill a 3/4 inch hole through the entire front and back, and then make a larger hole for the sphere to rest in.
Stainless steel is notoriously difficult to drill! It really requires a very slow speed, lots of oil, and at least a drill press. Except! Drill presses were not really designed to hold a 10 ft long element of a sculpture on their tiny table.
So....... I lifted up 90% of the sculpture with my Gantry crane and set it on the tiny drill press table! There's always a way to do these things!
