I'm quite old school in my studio! In order to mount the sphere in the upcoming sculpture, I have to drill a 3/4 inch hole through the entire front and back, and then make a larger hole for the sphere to rest in.

Stainless steel is notoriously difficult to drill! It really requires a very slow speed, lots of oil, and at least a drill press. Except! Drill presses were not really designed to hold a 10 ft long element of a sculpture on their tiny table.

So....... I lifted up 90% of the sculpture with my Gantry crane and set it on the tiny drill press table! There's always a way to do these things!

After a month of a brain-mandated break since returning from my Santa Fe gallery, I'm back on the ART wagon...

I'm working on the 2nd sculpture in the Flow series. The primary form of the upper & lower elements are together, and now I'm working on cutting out the edges which will start being welded into place tomorrow!

As an artist, I am always inspired by many forms and different artistic media. A while back, I created a series of beautiful stone vases. Each is completely unique with its different coloration, and this is the only one I still have. It is in the proverbial "artist's collection." 🙂

It usually sits in my living room, but on my walk today I found some rushes in bloom and decided to create a new arrangement.

OPINIONS NEEDED!

After a much-needed studio break (a month of hard labor in my gardens) I'm back in the studio!

The first two images are a model of what I'm about to create at 14 ft tall. I'm just curious where you prefer the sphere. For me, both have their appeal, and I just need another opinion or five.

The third picture is the sculpture beginning to take form in the studio, and the last picture is "Flow" the 1st in the new "Flow" series; each scultpture will soar 12 to 16 feet.

LOL! 17 years ago...

Laughing at myself, not the trip! THAT was amazing. A week in Turkey, 5 days in the Greek isles and a couple of days in Athens.

*I* on the other hand.... even I question if it's me. Who is that odd looking man?

May delete later, I don't know.

Hey everyone!

A local non-profit asked if I wanted to donate something for their Charity Auction coming up in a couple of months.

Instead of actual art, I am going to donate a studio experience. If you were thinking of bidding on such a thing, what sort of "experience" would appeal to you? I'm just looking for ideas that would appeal to people at their auction.

● Food / snacks?
● Wine? Cheese?
● Helping me clean the studio (for the REAL artist-experience!)
● watch me weld/cut/grind stuff?
● let them try welding?

Hit me with all your ideas! I'm ready.

I love Chad Little so much! Not only is he a great fellow artist, he makes me laugh out loud. This one got me right in the feels!

I watched a lot of movies, and I mean A LOT of movies. This one stars Sam Rockwell!

Odds are about 99%, that none of you have never ever heard of "Good luck, Have Fun, Don't Die", but it may be the best movie I've seen in 10... no... 20 years! If there is any way you can find it, steal it, or buy it, watch this film.

This clip is a small snippet of the film. A mother lost her child to a school shooting, and they have the technology to clone the kid, although to save on costs, they included advertising in the child- program... the voice-only is actually more of a real son.

It's a dark film about time travel and being addicted to our devices, but it only gets darker as the movie progresses! Even so, it may be one of the best films I've ever seen in my 61 years of life.

My protest is to make beautiful things against all the bu****it, death, and doom.

All I can do is resist the darkness.
