Policy and Procedure for Service Animals
Recently, For The Funk Of IT has been inundated with non-service animal pets, who have accompanied their owners in violation of California and federal law. Moreover, these animals have compromised the health and safety of festival patrons and legitimate service animals. We have therefore developed a new service animal policy and procedure. The policy and procedure will be strictly enforced and implemented in the interest of ensuring that bonafide service animals are permitted and all other animals are prohibited from For The Funk OF It . By law, if an animal’s purpose or task is to provide protection, emotional support, well-being, comfort, or companionship, it is NOT considered a service animal and may NOT come to .For The Funk Of It. SERVICE ANIMAL POLICY:
Qualified and bonafide service animals are welcome at For The Funk Of It. Pets and non-service animals are NOT permitted. It is a crime to misrepresent a pet as a service animal. Those who bring their non-service animals to the festival will be ejected from the festival site without refund. All service animals must be trained, housebroken, leashed and under the direct control of their handler at all times. If any handler does not adhere to these conditions, the handler will be asked to remove the animal from the site. The handler then may return without the animal. For The Funk Of It reserves the right to refuse admittance to or eject any individual whose conduct poses a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals or service animals. SERVICE ANIMAL PROCEDURE:
Any For The Funk Of It
patron arriving at the festival with a service animal will need to have their service animal credentialed at the box office. This process should not be feared, as it will be conducted with respect and understanding. After the service animal has been credentialed by festival staff, important information will be provided to the disabled individual. Once your service animal has been credentialed, staff are not likely to question you again unless the animal causes a problem. Any patron bringing a non-service animal will be not permitted onto any of the festival grounds, including camping areas. What to Bring
Sunglasses, a sweet sun hat, a light scarf, wrap, parasol or sarong; shade is vital when the sun is high! The campgrounds are ringed with vibrant oaks and pines and there are open areas as well: don’t count on getting a shady spot! (You may want to bring some Aloe for hero points in case you or a friend over embrace the early-summer rays). Shade - Lake Concow Campground can be quite warm in the summer (in the 90s). There are plenty of tall pine trees for shade, but bringing extra shade might prove useful. Clothing and costumery for all weather – It’s a good idea to bring some warm nighttime clothes as well as ‘non-clothes’ for fun in the daytime sun. Though it’s usually quite warm this time of year in Concow, with all the crazy weather we’ve seen lately you just never know for sure. Power - Lake Concow Campground is a primitive site with NO power available. You may want to bring solar panels and or alternate charging devices to provide you with any power you may need. Toilets and showers - We will have porta-potties throughout the festival and hot showers are also available. Food – Vendors will be serving delicious, nutritious hot meals, hooray! That said it is always a good idea to bring a few snacks to keep you going. Comfortable footwear and clean socks – This event is based on movement! The grounds are small but you can dance for miles without ever leaving the dance floor. Your favorite shoes, boots and/or sandals are key. The terrain can be a little rocky and uneven in places. It all starts from the ground up, take care of your feet! Water Containers – There is delicious fresh mountain water available and we will have throughout the campgrounds and the Klean Kanteen Hydration Staion, so bring a refillable non-glass container to minimize waste. Be sure to have a container for water for your campsite as it could be a bit of a stroll if you wake up thirsty. Bring a headlamp or flashlight to help you keep it all together when the sun goes down. Recycling and rubbish bags – This is a LEAVE NO TRACE event. Please try to not bring disposable items! Minimize unnecessary packaging well beforehand and do not bring it on-site. Let’s look out for our impact on each other and the land, leaving everything better than we found it. Bring bags for your camp area, we will be recycling and it will be much easier if it is separated ahead of time! Tent – A basic necessity of most any outdoor overnight adventure is a tent to crash in. Resurrect your inner scout with a basic set-up or Glamp it on up; either way, you’ll be thankful to have a comfortable home base to come back to when you need to take a bit of rest. Bedding – You should plan to sleep at some point and will be thankful that you brought something comfortable to sleep in/on. Make it possible to treat yourself kindly. If you smoke, please be very careful of all lit embers as the grounds are covered with dry leaves and grasses. Be sure to place fully extinguished butts in a proper receptacle!!

Very sad news today. We lost one of the newest members of the FTFOI Family this morning.

We are completely devastated by this senseless loss.

Rest on Love, Anthony Ant

Today is a very bittersweet day.

This weekend has been on our calendars for over 13 years. A dream of bringing people together through funk, with some of the very best regional and international acts in the beautiful Feather River Canyon.

We didn't know if anyone shared this dream, but over the last 11 years, FOR THE FUNK Of It has been so blessed to host one the best and most intimate events on the West Coast!

As children of High Sierra Music Festival, we saw the truly amazing power that good people and great music can create. It showed us a world where kindness and the arts are the backbone of an entirely new perspective... where we can care for each other simply by choosing to do so... and it changed us to our core.

We have survived COVID, The Dixie Fire and most recently the Park Fire. Through all this we have kept the vision of love and funk in the forefront.

Unfortunately, being an independent small scale event, the effects from drastic changes we have seen in attendance, late ticket purchasing, increases in the prices of nearly everything, means we are no longer able host For The Funk Of It Music Festival.

We have been radio silent for so long simply processing how devastating it is to accept this reality.

We have seen sooooo many small and large events succumb to these massive pressures, and the music festival scene has been altered to the degree that we wonder if it will ever be sustainable again. This breaks our heart.

We have so many remarkable memories of seeing you all gather together that we will always treasure. This was absolutely a very magical time. We are eternally grateful to have been able to bring you FTFOI over the years and hold you all dearly in our hearts.

We wish to thank everyone that has attended, performed, been a vendor or partner or had been a part of the crew or supported us in any way. The dream would never have happened without you! You know who you are and just smile knowing how very special these times were.

All things in life, change and grow and so will we.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at some great music for years to come, celebrating everything live music has given us, share some hugs and smiles and give each other that "look" of knowing...

We would love see to some your favorite pictures. Post em below and show everyone what magic we shared!

We LOVE and miss you all,
For The Funk Of It Productions

Thank you Frankie for being the fabric of my very being as a singer. Thank you for being the fabric of the Black Community. Thank you for being the one to teach us that we are all one family (whether we choose to recognize it or not). And most of all, thank you for sharing your message of love throughout the world. You did God’s work. I mean, YOU DID THAT S**T! You gave me and a whole bunch of young black boys and men courage to live in this world and gave us something that belongs to all of us, but specifically black people. Your music will live on within me forever. I hate having to type this part, but… REST IN PEACE FRANKIE.
