Ko Festival of Performance

Ko Festival of Performance Now working to uplift and amplify artists and ensembles working in live perforrmance

The Ko Festival of Performance, a program of Ko Theater Works, presents original works that surprise, provoke and inspire our audiences and ourselves. By presenting works by core company members and guest artists, we foster the collaborations and experiments in form that define the core of our mission, which is to provide unusual and exciting entertainment for our community in the Pioneer Valley,

while we are developing new creative relationships among the diverse community of innovative local, national and international artists. Each summer our Festival is centered on a theme such as “Stories of Illness and Healing” or “The Immigrant’s Journey.” Performances are accompanied by facilitated discussions and lobby displays that contextualize the ideas presented in the work in an effort to engender inter-audience/artist exchange and provide opportunities for civic dialogue. The Ko Festival also offers a unique array of workshops where adults, both local and national, can study techniques and approaches to making new work with master teachers. Other activities include internships, and rehearsal residencies where individual artists or ensembles can develop new work or reconsider older pieces in their repertoire.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE TELEPHONE - A NEW PLAY BY DEB MARGOLIN

SATURDAY, APRIL 26 AT 6:00PM

PART OF REVELRY AT 33

TICKETS: VIP TICKETS TO REVELRY AT 33 INCLUDE ACCESS TO THIS PERFORMANCE! ($90 EARLY BIRD/$100 AT THE DOOR, EARLY BIRD SALES END APRIL 19)

Remember when a phone was a phone, not a newspaper, a computer, a GPS, a game of solitaire, or a spycam? Come be part of OBIE award-winning playwright and performer Deb Margolin's newest work in progress "A Brief History of the Telephone." Deb insists that when a young person's phone rings, they call the police, because they never heard that sound before. Is that you?

Let's chit chat and chew the fat, as Deb explores a lifelong passion for the sexy, disembodied possibilities of talking with friends and strangers on the phone. At this show, not only can you leave your hat on, you can leave your phone on! You can call Deb during the show if you want! Let's bring talking to people back in fashion! Live and in-person, Deb Margolin...she's a smooth operator.

This performance can only be seen with a VIP ticket to Revelry at 33. Seating is limited, so please get your tickets in advance!

A Season of Farewells in Western MA: KO Festival of Performance and the Royal Frog Ballet
From The New England Theatre Geek

"Longtime KO collaborators Parris-Bailey and Bass played themselves in this piece: two artistic leaders facing the “gaping maw” of stepping down and making space for the next generation. In the face of this existential dread, they turned backwards, reflecting on their meandering artistic and personal journeys, accompanied by intricate puppet-versions of the ancestors from which all of their artistic work emerged. They mused and sang about achievements and missteps and offered strands of hard-earned wisdom to incoming theatre leaders in the audience. FLUSHING was a message from the elders: to know where you’re going, you need to know where you come from."
