Get ready for December with the last two shows for The Kevin Prater Band for 2025. We have had an incredible year. We took some things off our bucket list. No better way to end the year than with old friends and family members at two of our longstanding venues. Come help us celebrate and close out an amazing year.

Friday December 5th, at Pennyroyal Opera House in Fairview, Ohio Kevin has played this venue for many years with several bands. So its like a trip back home.

Saturday, December 6th at Bluegrass Opry Barn in Oakwood, OH. Kevin Prater has several relatives in the area so its like a family reunion.

We are feeling blessed, the excitement is building. Not only are we playing the Boxcar Pinion Memorial Bluegrass Festival November 7, November 8 we board the ship for 5 days at sea with Larry Efaw & Bluegrass Mountaineers and several others. Going to be a great time.

He is not kidding, as Larry Cadle says, The Kevin Prater Band is going on a cruise next Saturday. Thanks to Larry Efaw & The Bluegrass Mountaineers for the invitation. We will be joining a great group of other talented bands. IF you are kicking yourself for not getting your reservations in, Larry Efaw does a cruise every year, so watch for details for next years cruise.

2020 will mark the 40th Anniversary of Kevin Prater’s Bluegrass Journey that has taken him to 24 Countires, 49 States.

Kevin Prater has shared his vocal and instrumental talents world wide. His unlimited talents vocally and instrumentally have gained him world wide recognition and respect. Having toured with many legends of bluegrass, his greatest pride comes in leading The Kevin Prater Band, now in their 11th year. Forming of the band came from encouragement of many lifelong friends that realized Kevin’s potential and encouraged him to reach for the sky. Highly sought as a studio musician, is considered a Master of Mandolin, Guitar, Bass, Banjo and is a Master percussionist. Well respected as a sound engineer and Owner of Sound Makers Recording Studio in Belcher, KY. for 30 years where he has recorded over 1,000 projects.

Kevin has played with countless bands including Jerry Williamson & Redwing, Melvin Goins & Windy Mountain, Timmy Cline Band, The Bluegrass Brothers, with whom he received a nomination as “Banjo Player of the Year”. However his greatest notoriety came from 12 years as Mandolin player and High Tenor vocalist of The James King Band. Kevin wore the sideman title proudly and became part of two “Album of the Year”, a “Song of the Year” and “Recorded Event of the Year” award winning recorded projects.

Providing the hard driving, high energy to the band, amazing, multi-talented musicians, with huge resumes of Bluegrass experience and knowledge. Jake Burrows from North Carolina, on Banjo and Dobro. Bluegrass music has been his life long passion. In additional to his powerful instrumental talents, Jake is gaining serious attention for his impressive High Tenor vocals, providing lead and harmony. Jake has played with many great bands. He toured at a young age with Lonesome Will Mullins, Kody Norris Show and many others.

Kevin Prater takes great pride in sharing the stage around the USA and Canada with these amazingly talented bunch of men. In addition to Bluegrass, the band enjoys preforming Classic Country, throwing a grassy twist on Vintage Rock & Roll songs and the band favorite, Bluegrass style Gospel music.
