Two sessions down, one more to go! There’s still ONE MORE CHANCE to come out and paint with us during our Black Girl Peace and Paint series! We’ve really enjoyed working out of the community center in East Park but now it’s time to move this party to New River Park! We’ll see y’all there Saturday, June 6th from 2PM-6PM! ☀️🧡

The Bill Withers Committee is accepting entries for the annual Lovely Day Creative Arts Contest again this year. Categories to share youth creativity include:
-Art contest for elementary and middle school students.
-Festival sticker design contest for high schoolers. -Literature(essay, poetry or song lyrics) for middle school students.

Entries due June 3, 2026. We will recognize and celebrate winners during the Bill Withers Festival on June 27.

Today is Endangered Species Day — a reminder that the wild places we protect are deeply connected to the survival of the plants and animals that call them home. 🌿🦅

Here in West Virginia, the Blackwater Canyon is more than just a beautiful landscape. It provides critical habitat for countless species, supports clean water, healthy forests, and preserves the natural balance that makes our state so unique. From migratory birds to native wildlife, these ecosystems depend on protected lands to survive and thrive.

As development pressures continue to grow, protecting places like Blackwater Canyon becomes even more important. Conservation is about more than scenery — it’s about safeguarding the future of West Virginia’s wildlife, outdoor heritage, and natural resources for generations to come.

On this Endangered Species Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to appreciate the wild beauty around us and continue supporting efforts to protect it.
