THE MANSION IS GETTING READY FOR OCTOBER… 🖤

Every fall, Hegarty Mansion takes on a very different life when its rooms, hallways and grounds become home to Ravenwood Manor Haunted Attraction.

Behind all of that are the people who bring it to life—and this season, we still have room for a few more.

Ravenwood Manor is looking for 4–6 additional scare actors for full-season positions inside the mansion, along with outside scare actors to work the grounds.

No haunt experience is necessary. We are looking for dependable people who are willing to learn, become part of a character, work with a team, and help create the experience our guests have when they visit the mansion this October.

We are also looking for a:

🎟️ FRONT PORCH TICKET COLLECTION PERSON — FULL SEASON

This person will be stationed on the historic front porch, greeting guests and collecting their already-purchased tickets before they enter Ravenwood Manor. We need someone who is friendly, dependable, comfortable working with the public, and able to commit to the season.

Interested applicants can message Raven Wood at any time, and we will arrange a time to meet and talk.

Sometimes the Hegarty Mansion leaves us with more questions than answers...

For generations, stories have surrounded this mansion.

Some have been documented, others passed from person to person. There have been ghost stories, unexplained experiences, old rumors and local tales—stories whispered, repeated, embellished and sometimes debated for decades.

Which ones are true? Which grew a little taller with each retelling? And which may have begun with something that really did happen here?

We may never know.

But whether you believe in the paranormal or not, those stories are part of the history of the Hegarty Mansion. They have followed this place through generations, and we believe preserving the history of the mansion also means acknowledging the stories and experiences that have become woven into it.

That is why we felt the photograph we're sharing today belonged here on the Hegarty Mansion page, as well as on our other pages.

It was taken Saturday afternoon during a gathering on the mansion grounds. Nothing unusual was noticed when the photograph was taken.

It wasn't until later that something caught our attention.

And with our Twilight Investigations coming up August 28th & 29th, the timing seemed rather fitting.

We'll place the photograph in the comments below. We're not going to tell you what it is—because we don't know.

A Place That Continues to Bring People Together...

For well over a century, Hegarty Mansion has witnessed countless gatherings.

Families lived here.
Friends visited here.
History was written here.

Today, the mansion continues to bring people together in new ways.

Through Ravenwood Manor, lifelong friendships have formed within these walls and across these grounds. People from all walks of life have discovered not only a love for theatrical storytelling, but a community they are proud to call family.

This artwork celebrates those friendships and the many wonderful people who continue to write new chapters in the ongoing story of Hegarty Mansion.

🏛️ Hegarty Mansion

For generations, Hegarty Mansion has been a place where stories have been shared, friendships have grown, and memories have been made.

Today, those traditions continue through the people who perform and work together each autumn.

June 1998

A few days before I closed on Hegarty Mansion, I stopped by the property on a beautiful June afternoon. I was alone, simply doing what anyone excited about purchasing an old historic home might do—walking around, looking in windows, and satisfying my curiosity.

On the north side of the Mansion, I looked through one of the basement windows.

That's when it happened.

For just a brief moment, I saw a woman inside.

She looked directly at me.

I don't remember every detail of her face, but I have never forgotten how she was dressed or the expression she gave me. It wasn't welcoming. It felt more like she was unhappy that I was looking into the room.

The moment lasted only seconds.

Almost immediately I convinced myself that I must have imagined it. I was excited about the purchase, my imagination was probably getting the better of me, and I eventually let the experience go.

Life moved on.

Years later, a friend gave me an old Hegarty family photograph album containing photographs of the people who once lived in the Mansion.

As I turned one of the pages, I suddenly stopped.

One of the women in the photograph was dressed exactly as I remembered seeing that afternoon.

More unsettling than the clothing was her expression.

It was the same look.

To this day, I don't know who she was. I still have the photograph and often wish someone could put a name to the face.

Looking back, I also learned something I didn't know that June afternoon. The basement window where I was standing is directly beneath what is now the dining room.

Does any of this prove anything?

No.

Could there be a perfectly ordinary explanation?

Certainly.

I simply know what I remember seeing that afternoon, and more than twenty-five years later, it still gives me chills when I think about it.

This is simply one page from my journal. I don't claim to know what happened that day. I can only describe it as I remember it and leave the conclusions to the reader.
