Christy Stephens I am a designer, illustrator and painter based in Beaverton, Oregon. I give my life direction and purpose in a creative and meaningful way through my art.

Inspired by God’s Word, nature, vintage, re-purposed items, pattern, dimension, color and texture I carefully hand-craft each art piece. I enjoy working with a variety of mediums and feels that each piece is a dance between my imagination and my Creator’s inspiration. Hey y’all!!! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted on this account. My art has always gone through a metamorphosis of the sorts throughout my entire life. I’ve tinkered in a multitude of mediums. However…I’ve been working with clay for almost 6 years now! There is something truly special to me about working with clay that continues to captivate me. I feel privileged to play a part in the magical process of transforming raw clay from nature into functional works of art. There have been so many lessons I’ve learned through experimenting with clay….about me, faith and life. In my latest collection I’ve explored some past illustrations from my faith journaling and turned them into clay. When the weight of the world pushes us to the ground…when the world looks dim and everything is spinning to ruin…Look up! He is there! Always there to lift us above the clouds to His brilliant light. Always there to lift our heads and realign our focus on Him and His glorious peaceful light. For He is the lifter of our heads!

Lord, You are the lifter of my head. I choose to look to You at all times even in the darkest of moments. Please keep my head up and always facing towards your glorious light! I trust in Your good plans….for I know You work all things out for good! (Romans 8:28)

Our fig tree has been producing some delicious figs lately. It’s not a huge tree so we may get 5 figs one day and two the next over the course of a few weeks. So each of us have been truly savoring every bite!
~
I think God uses nature to teach some of the greatest lessons if we are willing to take the time to observe and listen. God purposefully planted us right where we are at. He needed us to be in this special place at this point in time to produce good fruit....to reflect Him and all that He is. A tree is known by its fruit. The juiciest fruit get the proper nutrients to grow by staying connected to the vine which is rooted in the proper soil for them to flourish. In the same way, the fruit we are producing in our life is a direct reflection on how connected we are to God. All it takes is a simple dialect with Him....being “rooted” in Him fills us up with the proper nutrients from the true Vine. Then all we have to do is listen for specific opportunities and He will show us how to walk in His ways and live worthy of the calling we have received.

It’s news that no one wants to ever hear....My sister diagnosed with breast cancer. She is for sure is one of the strongest people I know....a warrior....and will for sure get through all of this with the help of His grace from above! I’m asking for you all to keep her and her family in your loving thoughts and prayers. These are all challenging times as it is and we all need to be their for one another! God is greater then any obstacle, diagnosis and challenge! True shelter is only found in the shadow of His wings. {Psalm 91-4}

Finally, be strong in the Lord {draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him} and in the strength of His {boundless} might. {Ephesians 6:10}

The devil is ever so real and at this moment in time trying his hardest to lure us in to his ways. I’ve fallen prey this past year to some of his schemes. He’s always on the hunt for someone to devour at their weakest moment. It’s clear we cannot stick our heads in the sand or let our guard down for one moment. The devil is full of tactics, deceits, and strategies and the better we are aware of them the better we can defeat him. I was reminded yesterday of what a dear friend of mine mentioned about the forces of evil in the world today. Something she’s observing...”It’s like when you catch a fish and it fights for a while until it grows weary and gives in to the lure and the strength of the pole and fisherman. In the same way the devil is trying to lure us in...trying to catch us and wear us out so we give in.” When she told me that it just made me want to fight stronger and NOT let him win!!! It’s what I now keep in the front of my mind to motivate me to fight strong!

Jesus came to overcome evil...(1 John 3:8). The victory over the enemy has already been given to us and now we just need to keep it. Thankfully, God has equipped us for battle. He’s given us the full armor! Armor is put on piece by piece and understanding what each piece means is critical to knowing how to defend the attacks that come against us. So “put on” the full armor....belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit. Defeat the darkness! Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might! Fight strong fellow warriors!

Light is necessary for plants to grow and thrive. I love watching my succulents grow. Even in the full sun they still stretch towards the light. So it is in our spiritual growth. When we have the Light of the world with us....the shadows of darkness fall behind us and we are able to thrive....to be the best of who we are to be.

Keep us in Your marvelous light Jesus, following You on the right path, so we can have new life and growth in the presence of Your loving care and truly live how You intended each of us to Live...to be the best version of ourselves...all that we were created to be.

Just observing the chickadees yesterday...dancing around the trees and singing they’re lovely tunes....even through all the chaos and turmoil that spins around the globe at this time. They know...they know just what to do in the midst of it all. Not to worry, but to instead just sing! They know they are taken care of. You are precious in His sight! Worth so much in God’s eyes! Hard times surely can leave us feeling like we’re in a fiery pit. Am I right? It not only burns us but, after we are left with scars. We may suffer in the fire but God doesn’t want it to just end there. What others meant for harm, God meant it for good. He takes the scars, the ashes...and transforms them into something beautiful because He IS just that good. Trusting His goodness is all that’s required and He does the rest. Trust it is all for good and the ashes will be transformed into something far better than we ever could have imagined!
