If you missed the show today, you reaaaally missed it. In addition to fantastic performances, we had an unprecedented adventure in the middle of the show. Literally a minute or two into intermission, the power went out in the neighborhood. Undaunted, we switched gears away from the electronic keyboard and over to the piano and soldiered on, some with flashlights, with the rest of the show. Those of us who were there had a great time and now have a great story to tell.

It's almost time! Our concerts are tomorrow and Sunday, both at 3 pm, at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 12250 SW Denney Rd., Beaverton. You can expect some really cool jazzy arrangements on such songs as Black Water by the Doobie Brothers, Color My World by Chicago, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Sara Bareilles version), as well as standards like Over the Rainbow, Orange Colored Sky, and other "colorful" songs. You can purchase tickets at westsidesingers.org and also at the door (although tickets are less expensive if you buy them online in advance). Hope to see you there!

One of the most exciting developments for our choir this season is the creation of Westside Seniors, a second choir for those who are not comfortable coming to a rehearsal at night. They sound fantastic, and they will be a part of our show this weekend. Come see their debut performance on some great songs, including "It's Not Easy Being Green," "La Vie en Rose," and "Bye, Bye Blackbird." Together with Westside Singers, we will be doing two performances this weekend, both at 3 pm, at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 12250 SW Denney Rd., Beaverton. You can purchase tickets at westsidesingers.org (they are less expensive to buy online than to pay at the door).

One of the great things this choir does is perform at assisted living and memory care facilities. Of course, it's great practice and preparation for our public concerts, coming up this weekend. But it's also our way to give back to the community. We even secured a grant this year that allows us to perform at these kinds of facilities for little or no cost. Photo below is from one of those gigs (notice the touch of color that fits the theme of our show).

Meet Jen, our dynamic assistant director. She always puts a smile on our faces with her energy. She and Cathy will be leading us through a great set of "colorful" songs, including songs by such artists as Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Neil Sedaka, Shirley Bassey, the Beatles, and Sara Bareilles, among others. Meet Cathy, our amazing Artistic Director. She has put together an incredible playlist of "colorful" songs for our upcoming concerts. The program includes standards, pop songs, and jazz, as well as solos, ensemble pieces and a couple of a capella arrangements. Cathy is the tireless leader of our choir, inspiring us to perform our best and have fun in the process, and you will definitely enjoy her patter between songs.
