Few people have left a mark on the Beaufort Symphony quite like Olive Warrenfeltz. We were heartbroken to learn of her passing this week and are deeply grateful for the many decades she spent as part of our musical family.
Olive joined the Beaufort Symphony in 1988 and went on to become our longest-standing member, serving as principal second violin for decades. She helped shape the sound of our orchestra and made countless musicians feel welcome over the years. Always early, always prepared, and known for her quick wit, she was a cherished friend and colleague to so many.
Even after retiring from the orchestra, Olive still came to listen to our dress rehearsals. Her love of music and dedication to the symphony never faded. After so many years as a constant presence in the Beaufort Symphony, it is difficult to imagine the Beaufort music community without her.
At our next concert in October, we plan to honor Olive’s memory with a musical dedication.
If you knew Olive, we’d love for you to share a story or photo in the comments to remember and celebrate her life.
