During Billy Graham’s decades of ministry, he and his wife, Ruth Bell Graham, often corresponded through letters. While it wasn’t easy to be apart for extended periods of time, Ruth understood the great calling on Billy’s life and wholeheartedly supported him. However, he began to worry that his focus on ministry and frequent travels had caused an estrangement in their marriage.
In one particular letter, Ruth’s intuition told her that Billy was feeling guilty and worried about their marriage. She lovingly set his mind at ease when she penned these words to her husband:
“I feel closer to you than ever before.… Wherever you are, I go with you in mind and heart—praying for you continually.… Your problems, thrills, heartaches, and glorious victories—much more my very own.… Take good care of your precious self. There is so much yet to be done for God, and so much love yet unexplored and unexperienced for us.”
