Art Walk was wonderful New Bern. I met so many nice people who came out to see all the art. Thank you Suzanne and Debbie ( at Carolina Creations) . Debbie always does a great job displaying my paintings and they are so welcoming! Everyone at Carolina Creations are the best! Thanks to my terrific husband for all the framing he completed , for encouraging me, and for an awesome dinner afterwards at Baxter’s 1892! ❤️

I have officially completed 1/4 of the Appalachian Trail. None of this would have been possible without guide dog mobility instructors. Will Henry, is a guide dog mobility instructor and field service manager at Guide Dogs for the Blind. Guide dog mobility instructors and field service managers play such an important role for us guide dog handlers. They help us troubleshoot challenges in our home environment and wherever else we need it.

Hiking with my guide dog is vital to my independence as a blind woman. Hiking is also vital to my mental health and physical wellbeing. I am very active which is one of the reasons I prefer using a guide dog compared to a white cane.

As I look back on my AT journey thus far, I am incredibly grateful for people like Will who devote their lives to empowering blind people through the partnership of a guide dog.

Will Henry hiked the first fifty miles with me and Blaze and I am incredibly grateful for all he taught both me and Blaze.
