We celebrate local down here in the lowcountry…

This is a win for South Carolina shrimpers, for our restaurants, and for the coastal culture that makes places like the Beaufort region so special...

House Bill H.4248 was officially signed into law by the Governor on June 30, 2026, and will take effect on October 28, 2026. The law will require food service establishments to clearly disclose the origin of the shrimp they serve, giving customers more transparency about whether their shrimp is domestic or imported.

For the Beaufort region, this is a positive step forward. Our food scene, our waterfront communities, and our hospitality industry are deeply tied to the waters around us. Local shrimp is not just a menu item here. It is part of our heritage, our economy, and the authentic experience visitors come here to find.

This law helps protect that authenticity. It supports restaurants that are committed to serving and celebrating local seafood, gives consumers the information they deserve, and shines a brighter light on the hardworking shrimpers and families who help shape the identity of our coastal communities.

In a place like Beaufort, Port Royal and the Sea Islands, where food, water, culture, and tourism all intersect, that matters.

Day 2 of the 2026 Beaufort Oyster Festival brought cold temperatures and a rainy Lowcountry Sunday, but that didn’t stop the festival from carrying on.

A dedicated group of locals and visitors made their way to the waterfront to enjoy oysters, warm food, and live music throughout the day. Vendors kept things moving, music filled the park, and those who came out were able to take their time, chat with friends, and soak in the laid-back festival atmosphere.
Even with the chill in the air, the spirit of the Oyster Festival was on full display — good food, friendly faces, and a community that shows up when it counts.

Another Beaufort Oyster Festival weekend is officially wrapped, and we’re already looking forward to next year.

The festival couldn't happen without our sponsors and volunteers, we thank each and everyone of you for another successful Oyster Festival.
