Art League of Baytown

Art League of Baytown The Art League of Baytown has an exceptional art gallery and center where artwork by local members is on display for sale. Our venue is also available for rent.

We also hold art shows/competitions, classes and workshops and a summer art camp. Art League of Baytown was organized in 1954 and incorporated as a Texas non-profit corporation in 1963. Meetings were held in members' homes and shows were presented in any space that could be negotiated. In 2008, with the generous support of the City of Baytown, the Art League acquired its home at 110 W. Texas Ave.

and called it the Art Center of Baytown. The art center was originally a F.W. Woolworth Co. building built in the 1920s on bustling Texas Avenue in Goose Creek, which was incorporated in 1948 into Baytown. Some of Woolworth's old architecture can still be seen in the art center, especially upstairs. Meetings

Membership meetings are held at 2 p.m. the third Sunday of the month September-May. The meetings usually include an art demo and are free to the public. Mission

The mission of the Art League of Baytown is to foster creativity through education, conservation, connection and scholarship through innovation and equity within the arts to cultivate an inclusive and vibrant community. Classes/Workshops

We have weekly art classes for adults; weekly art classes for special needs adults, ages 22 and up; monthly art workshops for the Breast Cancer Support Group at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital; Summer Youth Art Camp for children, ages 7 - 12; monthly Make and Take Workshops (no experience necessary); and more advanced art workshops throughout the year. Exhibitions/Competitions

An annual spring art competition for members; an annual LSAG Regional Qualifier (competition to qualify for the annual Lone Star Art Guild convention and competition); the annual Upcycle Art Challenge (art competition featuring art created from recycled materials); 3-4 themed POP Shows throughout the year; exhibitions by special guests/ guest organizations; and more. Art for Sale

Members rent wall and shelving space inside the gallery to exhibit their artwork for sale throughout the year. We have the artwork of over a dozen local artists and in November and December when we hold our Christmas Gift Gallery, we have over 20 local artists showing their artwork and crafts for sale. Venue Rental

The classroom and gallery spaces are available to rent for private parties, events and meetings. The Art League of Baytown, Incorporated is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We are a member of the Lone Star Art Guild, the Baytown Chamber of Commerce, and Historic Baytown’s Art, Culture, and Entertainment Council.
