Congratulation to Arnel Zalamea on making the 2026 All-State Mixed Choir! This is the highest honor a choir student can achieve! Congrats on all your hard work!

Last night we had two students (both sophomores) compete in the Pre-Area round of the All-State choir auditions. We are excited to announce that:

Arnel Zalamea ranked number 2 overall in his room between both events. This allows him to advance to the Area round, taking place in January. At this final round, he will compete against students from the greater Houston area for a spot in one of the All-State Choirs. This is a huge honor, and Sterling High School has a long history of All-State Choir musicians

Ryan Johnson, though not advancing the Area round, ranked number 2 in her room for sight-reading. This is an incredible feat to do as a sophomore!

Congratulations to both of these students on their hard works

We are so thankful to Susan LaBarr, composer and editor at .music , for spending time with us today! Susan has composed many of the pieces we have sung, most recently our Varsity Treble performed “Where the Light Begins” at UIL. We loved hearing and learning from you!
