Shadow, "It's Veteran's Day and we recognizes anyone who had served or who are serving in The United States Military. So on November 11, we give thanks to all those service member's for his or her service."
"Even though today honors all the living Veteran's - We also Remember all those who had Paid the Supreme Sacrifice too or had passed away since leaving the service."
"This picture was taken aboard the U.S. Coast Guard ship, CGC Barracuda. This past July 27th we went out with the Korean War Veteran's, their family, friends and active U.S. Coast Guard military personnel. To lay a wreath and remember those who paid the Supreme Sacrifice that were serving during the Korean War in a ceremony on-board the cutter."
"We try to do a service every July 27th with the Korean War Veteran's. This was the date, back in 1953, which was the cease fire of the war. Since there was no signed Peace Treaty done, this is the longest active war in U.S. History. The Korean War is also known as 'The Forgotten War'."
Shadow 'Scamp' and 'Starrr' are just representing the military dog's who are serving or who had served in our U.S. Military. During the active part of the Korean War - 1950 to 1953 - There were approximately 1,500 Sentry Dog's aka War Dog's used.
Captain Gregory C Klampt of the CGC Barracuda is the one in the bottom picture holding, Shadow 'Scamp' and 'Starrr'. This was his third time helping us out for the wreath laying service.
Last year Bill Odonnell still organized the service for the Korean War Veteran's however, because of the lockdown, Captain Gregory ran the full service for the group with his crew. They broadcast the event live for us. This was his last year helping out the Korean War Veteran's Group, #176. The Coast Guard rotates the military personnel every three year's. His three year's will be up just before next year's, July 27th service.
We want to Thank Captain Gregory for taking the wreath laying service to a different level and doing a Fantastic job for our Korean War Veteran's. We do wish Him safe journey wherever he goes. Will be praying for him, his family and also the full Coast Guard Military Branch along with all our military both currently serving or had served.
