With heavy rains and 60 mph winds, today was a wild one for sure. So of course I went to check out the wave action at the Portland Head Light, where I found myself among a rather large gathering of onlookers, with and without camera in hand, whooping it up each time a big one hit either the cliffs or the crowd. Gotta love this town and its spirited people 😍

HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE TO ALL! Today we have made it through the shortest day of the year, while the longest night of the year lies just ahead of us. This means that once we wake up tomorrow morning, we are beginning to look at the brighter side of things again :D . To celebrate, I took some Winter Solstice Sunset shots at Robert Moses State Park!

One of Long Island's most endearing aspects is its environmental diversity, along with always beautiful coastal light. These two pictures, taken roughly 45 minutes apart, manage to showcase both. While walking my dog through the woods and photographing the trees at Gardiner County Park, I realized that the thickening clouds would make for an interesting sunset and raced to my favorite Great South Bay shoreline spot just in time :)

Deer are a common occurrence on Fire Island and they certainly aren't shy. I have never come this close to one though. I could have easily touched him, except for the fact that I was also close enough to count the ticks behind his ears ;p...
