For more than four decades, the Hispanic Counseling Center has been a pillar of healing, advocacy, and empowerment for our communities. A visionary cultural organizer, poet, and artist, Teddy Acevedo has been a guiding force in our community for more than six decades. A Dominican poet with a deep love for Puerto Rican and Latino culture, he founded the Puerto Rican Hispanic Parade to create a space where culture, pride, and community could march together in unity and visibility.

Patchogue-Medford School District
Nathan Brinkman is a powerful advocate for arts education, equity, and access. As Director of Art, Music, and Cultural Arts for the Patchogue-Medford School District, he leads all K–12 art and music programs and secondary theater experiences—ensuring students across the district are supported, inspired, and seen.

His leadership has strengthened and unified arts programming, expanded student exhibition opportunities through districtwide art shows, and created inclusive pathways such as Unified Art and Music classes. One of his most impactful initiatives is the Spanish Theatre Program, Érase Una Vez Compañía de Teatro, designed to support English Language Learners and celebrate the district’s growing Hispanic community. Now in its third year, the program has grown to serve more than 50 students and continues to open doors both onstage and behind the scenes.
