📢 CALLING ALL WRITERS!

Our 24-Hour Write-In is BACK this weekend! If you are always trying to find the time to write, now is your chance to focus for 24 hours. Work alongside peers, participate in challenges, network with writers in the same discipline and learn from others! Novelists, songwriters, playwrights, and creatives of all kinds are welcome to join (even if you're just catching up on some schoolwork, no judgement here!)

📅September 12-September 13, 2pm-2pm.
🎲 Games in the lobby and movies in the blue room for all your brain break needs.

A huge THANK YOU to our painting volunteers, both on our July painting day AND yesterday!

Obviously there is some plaster repair that will need to be tackled by the pros at a later date (as well as some touch ups on the ceiling by some brave folks on machines) but for now, the peeling, flaking paint in the Blue Room is all touched up and she’s looking good! 🩵💙

Fun fact: the Masons used blue in their Blue Lodges because it represented the divine, friendship, and because it was a rare color to produce in ancient times. Even though the HMT is no longer an active lodge, we’ve maintained the OG hues of the Blue Room to show homage to the original builders and stewards of the building for the first 120 years of its life.

📢 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We're finishing up the paint job on the walls of our Blue Room auditorium TOMORROW, September 5th! Last time we scraped 'til our scrapers were sore, and painted everything from the perimeter lights down. This time we're finishing up the balcony walls!

Not comfortable on a ladder? No problem. There's work to be done for anyone who's willing to lend a hand!

Join us this TOMORROW for this volunteer beautification project! Paint, brushes, masks, and rollers will be provided (but feel free to bring your own trusty tools if you’d like!) Snacks and drinks will be provided.

All ages and abilities welcome!

This week we received an email from Kyle Proctor over at The Historical Museum of Bay County letting us know that they found THE BLUEPRINTS of the 1903 rebuild of the Historic Masonic Temple, and asking if we wanted to take them off their hands. The answer was OF COURSE YES! Our next step is deciding how to safely store/display these, as well as digitize them for current and future restoration work.

And yes, before you ask, OF COURSE we took photos of the flat sheets (the rolled up ones will need a little extra care) and we will be sharing those shortly!
