Do I need to make an appointment, or can I walk in?
-We highly recommend making an appointment to ensure you get the time and artist that best suits your needs. Walk-ins are welcome, but availability may vary.
What is the process for booking an appointment?
-Booking varies with each artist but typically begins with submitting a request form on our website. You'll then communicate with your artist of choice via email. Afterward, you'll need to call the shop to finalize the booking and leave a $75 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied to the total cost of your tattoo.
What should I bring to my appointment?
-Please bring a valid ID (such as a driver’s license) to confirm your age. If you’re underage, your parent or guardian must be present with a birth certificate (or a photo of it), A yearbook photo/school ID, or guardianship papers and their ID. For tattoos, bring a reference photo if you haven’t already submitted one. You’re welcome to bring snacks, water, or an emotional support friend, though we ask that you limit it to one support person per client due to limited space.
How old do I need to be to get a tattoo or piercing?
-Age requirements can vary depending on the artist or piercer. We recommend calling or messaging the shop directly for specific information.
How much will my tattoo or piercing cost?
-Tattoo prices vary based on size, complexity, and placement, with a minimum of $100 for tattoos. We accept cash or card, card has a 4% transaction fee. Piercing fees range from $25-30 depending on the artist. Jewelry costs depend on your selection. All jewelry is implant-grade titanium, niobium, or gold. Basic jewelry starts around $30. Please call or contact us for more details on specific piercings. Note that we do not offer tongue piercings.

Tattoo Questions
How do I choose a tattoo artist?
-Take a look at our artists’ portfolios on our website, page, or Instagram to get a sense of their style and previous work. If you're unsure, feel free to ask for recommendations based on the type of design you're interested in.
What should I do before getting a tattoo?
-We recommend eating a good meal, staying hydrated, and getting plenty of rest before your appointment. Avoid alcohol or drugs the night before, as they can thin your blood and affect the healing process.
What’s the healing process like for tattoos?
-Tattoo healing times vary depending on person and the nature of the tattoo. Tattoos should be mostly healed anywhere between 2-4 weeks. During this time, it’s important to keep the tattoo clean, moisturized, and out of direct sunlight. Avoid scratching or picking at the tattoo, and be sure to follow your artist’s aftercare recommendations.
Can I get a tattoo if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
-We do not tattoo pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Can I bring a design to the shop?
-Yes! If you have a specific design in mind, bring it with you. Our artists are happy to help refine the design and make it uniquely yours.

Piercing Questions
Am I able to get a refund for jewelry if I don’t like it?
-No, we do not offer refunds for jewelry that is already installed in your body. If the jewelry was not worn, we do offer a refund. We do offer exchanges if your jewelry cracks, breaks, etc. not if it gets lost.
What piercings do you offer?
-We offer a variety of piercings, including ear piercings (lobes, helix, tragus, daith, industrial, etc.) nostril, septum, lip, eyebrow, bridge, navel, and more. If you’re unsure about which piercing you’d like, our staff can help guide you. All piercings are preformed according to the anatomy of the client.
Are piercings painful?
-Pain is subjective, but most people find piercings to be quick and uncomfortable rather than intensely painful. We use high-quality jewelry and strive to make the process as comfortable as possible.
How do I care for my new piercing?
-After your piercing, we’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions. Generally, you’ll need to clean your piercing with sterile saline solution twice a day and avoid touching it with dirty hands. No twisting, turning, pulling while your piercing is healing. Healing time for piercings ranges from 6-8 months, depending on the type of piercing and the person healing it. Health & Safety Questions
Is getting a tattoo or piercing safe?
-Yes! We follow strict health and safety protocols, including using sterilized equipment, single-use needles, and high-quality inks and jewelry. Our artists and piercers are professionally trained and certified, so you can feel confident in the safety of the procedure.
Do you offer numbing cream for tattoos?
-No. Artists can no longer apply over-the-counter (OTC) numbing products like Bactine Max, Lidocaine creams, or "Tattoo Numbing" sprays bought online. Using these products without a doctor's prescription is now a violation of state law for the studio.
If I have a question about the disinfecting process, what machines are used for sterilization, where the jewelry is from, etc. can I ask?
-Of course! We completely understand that trusting someone with your body can feel intimidating. Whether it's about our sterilization process, equipment, or the origin of our jewelry, please feel free to ask. We’re here to provide you with all the information you need to feel confident and comfortable.

Aftercare Questions
Can I go swimming with a fresh tattoo or piercing?
-It’s important to avoid submerging in any body of water, including baths, pools, hot tubs, or oceans for at least 4-6 weeks after getting a tattoo or piercing to reduce the risk of infection. Keeping your fresh tattoo or piercing dry is imperative to a quick and easy healing process. Check with your piercer for specific aftercare instructions and recommendations.

Other Questions
Should I tip my artist?
-Tipping is always appreciated but never required. If you're happy with your tattoo or piercing, a tip is a great way to show your appreciation for your artist’s work. We accept most payment methods, including cash, Venmo, Cash app, and credit/debit cards (you can also tip via card).
Can I bring my own jewelry?
-We do not pierce with outsourced jewelry. All jewelry must be purchased through Electric Chair Tattoo to ensure cleanliness, quality, and durability.
